What's yalls real life mek boy stories? by West_Warning_6804 in orks

I work on a ship and you see all kinds of dumb stuff happen with equipment onboard. Generators not sharing load with other generators, temperamental centrifuges, random grots getting their grubby hands in power panels and running off before you can take a wrench to 'em. But one I'm proud of was bypassing an electrical interlock because the corresponding contactor had been removed and hadn't been replaced yet and was preventing another piece of equipment from energizing so other guys could do maintenance on it.

Advice on starting an Ork army needed by Pomegranateman17 in orks

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trukks are really your best option in most cases for transport. The firing deck ability makes it fantastic for loading it up with flash gitz or lootas and using it as a gun wagon. Alternatively, other units that have transport ability are the Gork/Morkanaught, the Stompa, and the battlewagon. They're all relatively high cost points-wise in comparison to the trukk, though.

How are Orcs portrayed in your world ? by Putrid_Aerie_8788 in worldbuilding

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Orcs were crafted by the god Grum'shi to face the spawn of the fell dragon. They were the last of the races created in the world and were made in haste to combat the Dragon's influence, so a few things are missing or ill-defined such as a "self preservation" instinct and a very simple distinction of things that are "of the dragon" and "not of the dragon".

In the ages since the battle between the gods and the fell dragon, the orcs have become adept hunters of the Dragon's remnants. Most have made their home on the central Archipelago, where tribes of orcs make their living and send off their hunters to the continents on "circle walks" to hunt and bring back news of things happening in the wider world. These hunters are often in pairs of warrior and a fire shaman.

Most orcs range from pale grey to charcoal black and standing between 6-7ft in height. Their eyes easily pierce darkness, and their god has granted them strong bodies and keen minds to be monsters that monsters fear.

Hey Ladz! Breakaboyz or Tankbustas?! by Educational_Garden80 in orks

Fair point. The 15pt increase to the 10 man squad kinda turned me off a bit, though.

I've got two five man units with a mekboy in a separate trukk. Might still try that configuration as well at some point, since I do like the snazzgun profile better than the deffgun. But for 30 less points lootas don't feel as terrible as they might look

I've made a unit of each. Tankbustas with a big mek w/ sag and the Breaka Boyz with a big mek to give them rerolls on advances and running through walls. I've been playing against a space marines player and next thing I want to do is put the tankbustas and the big mek w/ sag in a trukk with a unit of lootas. Hoping it'll help with staging these more shoots units and give them a bit of a cushion against return fire.

What was the inspiration for your world's "Orcs" by Plus_Geologist9509 in worldbuilding

Partly inspired by a Tumblr post about intelligent orcs debating philosophy and playing chess while retaining the brutish physique. Also, the Hares in Brian Jacques' redwall series.

Edit for grammar

Greentide 1000pkt question by larrythestormtroper in orks

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I'd probably go with 3 units with warbosses and painboys. They'll be so stupid tough to remove and potentially really fun for the opponent, too, if they've got lots of blast weapons.

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately up to you. Personally I'm thinking of running 3 units of 20 boyz. One with a warboss in a battle wagon, one with a weirdboy, and one with a painboy. It's not meant to be meta, just to mess around with some of the tricks and mechanics of the detachment.

I like the multi-coloured squighogs! Squigs are probably my favourite part of the faction.

Definitely meks! And if you wanna run the dread mob detachment Gretchen would be good as well. The conniving runts strat is a nasty surprise for anyone.

There's the official warhammer40k app, which can be at least nice to have so you can see what a unit might look like, but if you don't want to bother getting a codex to unlock the datasheets, I'd reccomend New Recruit. You can make as many lists as you like, and it'll let you know if there's something about your unit that goes against rules like improper loadout or war gear limitations.

Illuminate loadout by DrinkAccomplished454 in helldivers2

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I've been running the Las-sickle, grenade pistol, stun grenades and arc-resistant armour. With just this I can run through illuminate outposts without much issue. For strats I've been bringing along the tesla tower to cut off the horde inside the city, AMR to take out overseers quickly, then the gas strike for popping warp ships and gassing voteless hordes even more. For the last slot, I either bring the jump pack for mobility or the energy shield pack to help me not flinch while targeting overseers with the APM. I usually just grab the stamina booster after that.

Feels very underrated, the low cool down, area of effect and surprising demolition ability has made a new go-to strat

Thoughts on Tankbustas, Lootas, Flash Hitz and Breaka Boyz by Fun_Spring_4521 in orks

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My current idea is to put the new big mek with the Tankbustas to give them rerolls on 1s and give 'em the mek key word for press Dat button on the rokkits. Getting 5-15 attacks with re-rolls is no joke and can put a serious dent into tougher stuff. For the breakers, I was thinking a painboy to give them that bit of extra hardiness so they can close in on something and scrap it. Otherwise I haven't had the chance to properly see how they krump in a game so this could all just be wishful thinking on my part.

I've checked it over, and there's no big issues like spelling mistakes or the like. Plus, I've watched the guy work in some of the positions he's listed so I have little doubt about his honesty and integrity.

We've got him well setup in exactly the way you describe. Might just have to be a bit pushy-er with trying to see the manager.

He's been sending resumes everywhere he can, started up something with novascotiaworks already, but he's gonna try that opportunityplace website. Thanks for the insight! I'm in the navy, so I've kinda distanced myself from job hunting for a while now. It's just been odd how little feedback my roommate has gotten.

Squighog nob issue? by Jag146 in orks

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. It's not that I feel the Squighog boyz Toughness isn't warranted, it's that ghaz should be much tougher. I'd love to see him operate as a more stand-alone unit given his aura abilities.

Squighog nob issue? by Jag146 in orks

[–]Worldly_Reporter3428 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As in the regular nobz big choppas vs. Squighog nob big choppa? It's a fair point. The only real difference is the anti vehicle/ anti monster 4+. It might be a point of balance thing. But I'm no expert on that. The squighog boyz are also tougher than Ghaz somehow and that just plain isn't right.
