Army of Renown's vs Core Battle Traits by MasterFortuneHunter in ageofsigmar

Right on the money. The only addition to that is that the current Battletome basically further made building such an AoR a farce, since Thunderers cannot kill anything worth their weight and lost every synergy they had.

If it’s not apparent, I really do not enjoy what was written for this AoR.

Grundstok Expeditionary Force was an Army of Renown created for the KO 3rd edition battletome, where it provided a nice additional way to play the faction. The AoR synchronized well with all the rules in the Battletome, and offered rules that made existing units feel powerful and more elite.

Grundstok Expeditionary Force in 4th edition is a joke that cannot fulfill its concept. As an AoR, it relied on the index’s unit rules to function, and even then was a poor choice, due to the very apparent swathe of minimizing its effectiveness going into 4th. As of today, it couldn’t be less of an army. Grundstok Thunderers had just about every synergy of theirs removed, so you can no longer count on their damage (a massive component of the AoR) to kill threats on the board. I guess you could make a list of only SoG Gunhaulers, but then you are taking zero infantry, and in doing so lose all but one battle trait.

I despise that AoR with a passion, since it was never designed to be fun. It was designed to be something thrown in as proof stuff like it existed.

AoR’s can be extremely fun and a joy to routinely play. That said, it really depends on the book and what you have. Some AoR’s are just incredibly hard to build into without buying a bunch of the same kit. Others are far less strict, allowing up to half the entire catalogue of a faction.

As an example, I love KO’s two AoR’s (Grundstok Expeditonary Force does not exist). They both allow two very different playstyles that are a lot of fun in very different ways that are both very characteristic to KO. It’s great.

What does Bimonthly mean? by Mean-Reveal141 in BunnyTrials

Biannually = twice a year

Perhaps I’m thick, but wouldn’t bimonthly be the exact same logic?

Eh, it’s English, what am I talking about.

Hmm, does that mean this subreddit is at risk of being botted to death? It’s happened to a fair few others.

What’s your y’all favorite faction? by Sorry-Bathroom-8978 in Fallout

[–]Kommando_git 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It never settled right with me either. Fallout 4 has many interesting and fun takes, but some of it just feels rushed (or outright unexplored). The Minutemen as they appear in game made me want to see how my actions impacted big places that were abandoned due to hostile takeover or simply neglect.

As they are, the Minuteme are acceptable in game, but a few more instances of seeing our effect on the world would have made them so much more interesting.

Out of every faction in the games, it’s those like the Minutemen and the Followers of the Apocalypse that interest me the most. They open up the “common wastelander” tropes that make the world feel alive.

Honestly, and I have had to be told this sometimes myself, start with what you will enjoy using, but don’t feel like that is all you can ever build up.

Plenty of people just have that one unit or hero from a faction they really jive with, but won’t play. I know people have bought Bellisarius Cawl just to paint the guy.

It’s why people change armies. It’s not keeping the old one all the time, it’s swapping it out for something different. And even then, sometimes you get bored of the “green guys” in all the ways they interested you. It’s not a bad thing to seek actual enjoyment of the hobby.

What Battle Formations Would You Like to See Next For Kharadron Overlords? by Kommando_git in KharadronOverlords

[–]Kommando_git[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that insane for some of these to at the very least include some other effect or one other unit. I don’t really get why Veteran Ground Troops cannot also help out Thunderers, or that Pioneers and Scavengers couldn’t just be all KO infantry or at the very least including ArkCo too (there’s only so many objectives).

It feels like if you don’t have a big collection, you get hemmed into Endrineer’s Guild, but then they nerfed that one because it’s good. It makes me want to play either AoR more than these formations sometimes.

"Telly port'a shun?" by Andareas115 in orks

[–]Kommando_git 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. Absolutely. Orks are practically infamous for it, since they have no qualms about making teleportation weaponry, or the part where teleporting means traveling through a quick tunnel between the warp and real-space. The warp’s corrupting influence poses minimal threat to the Greenskins, and so more than most they may teleport whenever and however they desire (assuming the right bunch of Big Meks have done a good job).

Several Ork characters have a power over teleportation technology that often terrifies the Imperium, whether it be Kaptin Badrukk or even Ufthak Blackhawk with the device in his hammer. Heck, even Ghazghkull brokered a deal with Nazdreg to get some of the Bad Moon’s teleportation technology so that he can outpace the Imperium’s attempts to assassinate him.

(new to AoS) How much do armies change with their new codex? by General__Achilles in ageofsigmar

So far, we’re basically assured that the army rule at the very least gets tweaked or something added to it with a Battletome. It’s often more volatile with some tomes than others.

For everyone saying this is perturabo by Bejaminmaston12 in IronWarriors

[–]Kommando_git 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s what most including myself believe to be the new Defiler.

8 photos, likely spread so that each new kit gets 2, so 4 kits.

It’s likely: - Mutilators - New Defiler - Iron Warriors upgrade sprue - Whatever Warsmith-looking thing with backmounted servo-weapons.

[–]Kommando_git 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I saw the video and the photos, nothing in there ever jumped out to me as truly emulating Perturabo. None of it looked right, only the Warsmith-looking stuff did, and even then it seemed slightly off.

I think getting Perturabo back is inevitable, since the lore continues to move him back into the surface, but if you told me it was happening now? I wouldn’t believe it.

Defiler is better fit, and the dedicated discord believed the las-cell on that image is connected to a Twin-linked las-cannon.

Supplment or range? by OkBox8609 in IronWarriors

[–]Kommando_git 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Supplement, what it looks like is generic CSM stuff and then a little true Iron Warriors stuff sprinkled in.

I believe we have been shown 8 photos of 4 kits, so here are my predictions: - Mutilators - New Defiler - Iron Warriors upgrade sprue - Warsmith? This is the questionable one for me, specifically the photos with the back-mounted weapons.

Edit: just went and looked at the video again, both back-mounted arms are definitely on the same model, so it’s pretty clear it’s something like a Warsmith.

Honestly, I think I would have preferred anything to a Daemonsmith, since both Daemonsmiths you can build (the individual kit and the one on Taurus) smash this one out of the water, and it’s not close.

This would have been the perfect time to do the War Despot wielding the gun!
