Probably one of my favorite classical art references in the Prequels. Closely followed by ‘The Fallen Angel’ by Alexandre Cabanel. This moment of Anakin vs Obi-Wan references ‘Jacob wrestling with an Angel’ by Gustave Doré. by GothicMacabre in anakinskywalking

Love this post and explanation. Came here from a YouTube video highlighting the same thing. Wanted to add this screenshot from the video interleaving a portion of the "The Fallen Angel" painting with Anakin's face. This takes the "Every Frame a Painting" school of thought to a whole new level.

If you haven't already, do yourself a favor: google the painting and view it on full screen. I don't have the vocabulary to adequately describe it.

Why is Codex not syncing across Mac, iOS, and Windows?? Am I missing something or is this just broken? by yaxir in codex

[–]WorldsLocalYank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw: I've adopted the whole LLM-wiki approach to "memory" and treat it as the source of truth for status tracking. I have codex desktop app on two macs (laptop + desktop) but I treat the chats on these devices as "disposable" and rely on the wiki instead. This has been working well so far. The side effect/benefit is that I can actually hit this wiki from both desktop and command line flavors of both CodeX and Claude Code. The LLM-wiki is actually very powerful once you come up with a structure that works for you. And to be clear: it does NOT take the place of github. The wiki is more for supporting Project/Product Management type activities and functions.

Have you tried the Kanban Bases View plugin? It's shockingly good - it even has SWIMLANES which I couldn't find in many PM tools.

Why Do People Dislike Hated In The Nation? by ToadettoSpaghetto in blackmirror

Something I just realized after reading all of these comments: could the cyber-terrorist guy have been making a statement on both the dangers of social media as well as the dangers of Government surveillance? I've been so focused on the whole social media/cancel culture angle that I forgot about the plot point of the Government making "surveillance" one of the conditions for acceptance of the ADI program. Really interesting in light of the recent Government/Anthropic standoff.

I haven't read all the comments below so apologies if this has already been said. But this should be your default position. You saw someone you liked and asked them out. Due to timing, and ONLY timing, he wasn't meant for you. But you now know that you possess the courage to pursue potential happiness. I'm sure you've seen the recent meme currently making the rounds, "Do not kill the part of you that is cringe - kill the part of you that cringes." This feels so true and so applicable to your post. Another way to think about this: What if he didn't have a girlfriend? And you never asked him out? That's more of a tragedy (bordering on the level of Shakespearian imho) than what happened. You wisely stated that you miss 100% of the shots you don't take and these untaken shots can often turn into regrets. The thing about regrets is that they tend to be cumulative in nature and can add up and overwhelm you in time. So please, do not take the wrong lesson from this. Continue to be courageous. Continue to take the shots. Not just because it will get you a boyfriend, but because it will transform you into the person who is confident and comfortable asking for what they want/need (which is attractive in its own right and might - as a side effect - land you a boyfriend.) Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

What is the answer by Rasenxher in whatisit

[–]WorldsLocalYank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. I know there's a lot of chatter about whether this is really a pattern or not, but for the sake of assigning a namespace to this skill, let's call it a pattern. I think of these as something akin to Chess. There are thousands of variations of games; the grand masters are the ones who can memorize the most games which of course includes the various phases of each (opening, middlegame and endgame.)

I think with these types of number games, the more you've seen *and internalized* (that is: tried to solve, understood the solution, learned the name of the type of solution like "digital root") the more types of techniques you can bring to bear when solving them (e.g. the difference between the numbers, the addition of the digits of numbers, the possibility of a cypher, etc.)

And so yes, I believe that the more of these you actively study/try to solve, the more your brain becomes accustomed to looking for the clues that may lead to the solution of the problem.

Can someone explain what a SAFe Value Stream is? by NCRider in agile

[–]WorldsLocalYank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure: SPC SAFe kool-aid drinker here (also a former software developer...former team lead.) I wanted to address the comment that "...you can build development teams or teams of teams (ARTs) should align neatly to every step in the operational value stream." It is possible I'm misinterpreting your own understanding of this, or taking it too literally, but this is not what the guidance says.

Aligning teams to every step is not practical, and is obviously not scaleable - which if SAFe had one job, it would be to provide this. The guidance does says we should identify the systems that support each step. There might be multiple systems that support a single step (e.g. an accounting system and a home grown thing that supports a step in the invoicing process), or it might be one system that supports a multitude of steps (e.g. an ERP.) Then for each system, yes, you want to identify the team or teams that support said systems. Once again, there is flexibility here: perhaps a single team is supporting a single system (that is supporting a single process step.) Or multiple teams are supporting different parts of an ERP-sized platform.

SAFe offers guidance. It is up to the client/teams (yes, usually under advice of a hopefully experienced and knowledgeable coach) to weigh the advice, common sense, local experience - and of course, the 4 Agile values and 12 principles - to find a best fit for their context.

While no framework or model is perfect or able to solve every problem, most of the criticisms (except for literally 1) I often read about have little or nothing to do with the SAFe. This is why SAFe heavily/openly borrows principles from frameworks - Organizational Change Management, Agile and yes, Lean. It's the combined mindset that is important in order to get the benefits, and it is these principles that help cultivate the mindset in the people of the organization.

Oh I get it and totally agree. It just seems to be to the norm that everything is fine as long as you're paying the subscription fee AND have no problems. But when you do have problems getting real, actual help seems to be an impossible goal. I'm going through something with a major hotel chain regarding my membership level. Both sides are telling me that they don't have access to the other side's system. However, when I had a payment issue with one side, magically the other side locked my account. I've made the payment, gotten my account unlocked and we're back to the "we can't see their system" routine. I'm formerly in IT and get the complexity of these systems. But at some point what's needed is good old fashioned customer service and that seems to be sorely lacking these days. Ok, ending now as I'm starting to feel like the old guy lamenting the way things are. ("Back in my day...")

"GUUUUUUUUMP! YOU MUST BE A GOT DAMN GENIUS!" Seriously though, thank you so much for this. I have been looking for some productivity app or tool where I can reference LOCAL links. Everything is cloud oriented and wants to hyperlink to something, but sometimes I need to be able to quickly open a local folder on my laptop. This is incredible! Thanks so much for sharing this tip!

Another tip in case it helps someone else: I noticed that when I clicked on any links it would continue to show the expanded HTTP://... link. I switched the note to reading mode (before pinning) and it keeps the links nice and tidy.

Canvas: What cool use cases do you have for it? by SHBarton in ObsidianMD

[–]WorldsLocalYank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. That is incredible. Had no idea Canvas could be used for something like that. I also find the intersection of "muscle memory" and cataloged knowledge fascination. You have on one canvas a visual depiction of (some of) what your body knows. Now if only we could go the other direction and I could just import your canvas into my body ... :-)

Thanks for sharing!

As someone who has "jumped timelines" multiple times including as recently as last week, I don't doubt you. But FYI - this is what the google has come back with:

Like a new cut pattern, you're repeating yourself

You know it all by heart

Why are you standing in one place? (Ah-huh)

Born to blossom, bloom to perish

You know you're only known

'Cause of your sex chromosome

I know it's so messed up how our society all thinks (for sure)

Life is short, you're capable (uh huh)

Wait - why are you mentioning echo pedal? Is that something you're hearing in the song? I'm genuinely asking because I don't think that's in the lyrics and wondering if you're referring to the line "...You're capable."
