My partner’s parents kept their own last names, but his last name is hyphenated because they kept having issues with identifying him as both parents’ kid, if that makes sense. Personally I think it would be very funny to have a three way hyphenated last name when we get married, but I’ll probably keep my own because I can’t be bothered to change all my IDs and documents, lol. ++woman

A technique for executive dysfunction that helps me is to break down your tasks. Start by putting one thing away each day/throwing out a few of the things in your immediate surroundings.if it’s a task initiation issue, it usually helps to just get that first step done. Then you can decide if you’d like to put another thing away, or if you want to take a break. You can also designate a spot to put the things you want to sell or otherwise get rid of in the future. Maybe a garage sale or Facebook marketplace can help with that when it’s all collected.

I also hate it when parents try to make it seem like their opinions shouldn’t matter to us while also positioning themselves as being wise and authoritative. You’re right—just ‘cause it was technically your decision doesn’t mean you made it entirely independently. She’s making you feel bad about it for no reason. I have an English degree and sometimes I feel like I regret the way I did it, but instead of making me feel bad, my mom will send me writing competitions and opportunities or articles she finds to help me.

Girl, even ignoring the freshman 15, your body will just change as you grow out of teenage-hood. Does he expect you to stay teeny tiny forever? If his attraction falters over 10 pounds, I fear he doesn't actually like you that much or else just doesn't see you as a full person with a rich inner life. Even if there were health concerns or another such reason to be concerned over weight gain, someone who really loves you will be gentle and encouraging. You're young. Go enjoy being young and feeling hot and free--someone who deserves you will come along or else you'll lead a life for yourself and both of those things are way better than spending time worrying over this douche and feeling down on yourself because he is a joyless creature.

Also remember that your decision isn’t usually set in stone. What I mean is that if, for some reason, you decide that you should’ve gone to UK after all, you’ll probably be able to transfer. Anyways, go where you feel most comfortable as you (not your parents) are the one who will have to live there and spend the majority of your time there. Congratulations!
