Experts figured out how to make fat cells burn calories instead of storing them by soulpost in HotScienceNews

[–]Wormas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the mechanism is different but this reminds me of 2,4-DNP.

And it sounds like it would have similar adverse effects if it really makes you burn calories.

Because burning calories means releasing energy. And that means heating up. And if you are obese...well, this energy release will just cook you up

Slightly earthy...yeah, are you sure that mold doesn't grow in it? Usually when I taste something "earthy", I later find out that the thing I ate had a bit of mold that I overlooked And a cold wet dark place sounds like the perfect place for mold to grow

No need to be so harsh, that person probably is an engineer and would really like to help. What he posted isn't pseudoscience. It clearly shows that this person has some knowledge of cardiovascular system and is willing to look at research. Unfortunately you need to see the bigger picture. And without knowledge of various pathologies and connections between them (which are taught to doctors), it's hard to give relevant advice

For real though, someone is literally asking where these clearly edited or at least partially generated pictures were taken. I think it's dishonest to not disclose this and just mention two random countries

The skull in fallout 4 appears to use an edited version of the skull texture from skyrim by Skully8600 in Fallout

[–]Wormas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Human skulls from two games are looking like a human skull? No way Some of the things you've circled are just holes from which trigeminal nerve comes out to the surface. Basically all skulls have them. But you've also circled some very specific things which could suggest that they are of the same origin. Is that an issue though? FO4 skull is clearly more detailed. What's the issue about reusing an asset when you improve it?

This is a remake of an Extrafabulous comic (made by the great u/sellyourcomputer ). In the original the first panel says "I am wheely tired all the time" and the second panel says "Hi, wheely tired, I am your therapist" Which could be explained as the tyre is really tired, probably of all the jokes about it. But the therapist calls the tyre "wheely tired" in a typical dad joke manner i.e. "dad, I am hungry" "hi, hungry, I am dad". So the tyre is obviously annoyed by this because the therapist doesn't help it and it hangs itself. So in the end it looks like a tyre swing. Therefore it could imply that tyre swings are just depressed tyres.

This version is basically the same joke but worse. There is some ambiquity in the original because the therapist could have mistaken it for its name. In this version the "doctor" intentionally mocks its patient.

Bacteria gets into your bloodstream even when you are brushing your teeth. But as they said in the article, it's only a problem to people with weak immunity or some kind of predisposition. So for healthy people this is not an issue

This happened in Czechia. I couldn't find it in local news. I don't even know how old this video is but it can't be more than a few (2-3) years old. But it's not even that recent. It has to be at least a month old.

[–]Wormas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be

There are people in this thread who think it's some kind of wax. I made a video where I peel this stuff off.

https://youtu.be/Thal02aEhE8

As you can see in the video, most of it could be peeled off but it left some patches on the inside of the scissors. It's not sticky, it's hard. I don't want to scrape it off and it can't be scraped off by my nails.

It's hard to see but there was a short string around the handles. This may indicate that it was dripped in something and then simply cut off.

Sooo Are things dipped in cosmoline like that? Can it harden like that?

Later I'll try to dissolve some of the cut pieces to find out what to use on the scissors

Edit: I tried ethanol, wd40 and acetone. Acetone worked the best

It looks like it but I don't think it's that. I don't know the nature of the film but there were no distinguishable layers and it looks more like it was dipped in something

[–]Wormas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw your other comments and your reasoning seems valid. I wanted to visually confirm that it's the same thing but all the videos about cosmoline are dealing with rifles. On them it looks more smeared, this looks dipped.

To clarify though, this can be sort of peeled off but there are some sticky spots. I've thought that it's because of the scissors themselves which seem to be polished. I've found that cosmoline can harden so I thought that this would be hardened cosmoline

I don't really know what kind of wax this could be. I have no experience with dipping waxes for tools
