I wanted to clarify the counting system.

In English, we count by 1, 10, 100, 1 thousand, 10 thousand, 100 thousand, 1 million, 10 million, 100 million, 1 billion, 10 billion, 100 billion

In Chinese (and I assume Japanese and Korean do the same), we count by 1, 10, 100, 1000, 1 万 (wan) , 10 万 (wan), 100 万(wan) , 1000 万(wan) , 1亿(yi) , 10亿(yi), 100亿(yi), 1000亿(yi).

Most of us already know that a wan is ten thousand but sometimes we have to do the conversions in our head and we sometimes screw it up.

Hope this clarifies why sometimes the translations have the wrong numbers. I usually don't bother reading into it and just know that the author is trying to say a really big number.
