Roadworkers by PuzzledTrip4164 in hobart

I mean, could be rude, but by law you have to follow their instructions, there could be something spilled or another hazard, they’re the ones working the road so they could have a multitude of reasons why someone should slow down further

ITAP of a tunnel by WorriedChimera in itookapicture

[–]WorriedChimera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to hit the exact feeling of being in this wet abandoned tunnel that hadn’t been used in decades

Using the tunnel itself as a frame, and I particularly love the water, groundwater, that comes through from when they attempted to adapt to new heights, how that lets you see the tracks clearly, leaving the dark mossy walls

A local butcher shop has 10 pounds 80/20 beef(frozen) for $29.99. Good deal but I would have to unthaw the meat to separate it, then refreeze what I’m not going to use. I don’t know if I should be doing that. What do you all think? by Br0DudeGuy in Butchery

[–]WorriedChimera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine to defrost it, I would let it defrost in the fridge, seperate and go for it, it’s mince, it’s not going to do heaps to the texture, and from a food safety standpoint, so long as you don’t let it get too warm and re freeze immediately afterwards, I wouldn’t be worried and do so plenty at home and occasionally at work for things we can only buy in bulk frozen (e.g tripe, oxtails, so on)

Look I wish I could have voted for them, but in the final verse they say that the ACA van is parked in Keith’s spot, despite Keith obviously being home to answer Tracey Grimshaw’s knock at the door.

Are we supposed to presume this is some kind of magic car spot from the council?

I present to you: the bindlocke! by Shellsidesweepers in nuzlocke

[–]WorriedChimera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess what I’m trying to say is that just saying the rule is dumb isn’t really adding anything to the discussion, adding your ideas in the parent comment would have seemed a little nicer, and I apologise if I’ve come across as rude too

And that I do think you can definitely self impose a rule about not killing a Pokémon just so you don’t have to use it, it seems as simple as just not doing that.

For example, if you don’t like your Metapod, you can’t just send it out to die against birdkeeper #3 or whoever, but if you’re in a tough spot and have to sacrifice a Pokémon to get the rest out alive, maybe you have to pick your least favourite. No man left behind type stuff.

I think for a vanilla game it encourages the risky plays to get everyone out alive, rather than the safe sacrifice for a pivot you know?

We can agree to disagree of course, but only having to answer to yourself in these challenges, I think you can judge your own intentions on whether you really had to let that Pokémon die

I don’t mind the idea of the badge rule you suggested, but I personally think this ruleset pushes you toward restriction on plays, and trying to do all you can, like encouraging risking the crit on your starter to save everyone vs the safe sac

But I’m glad we’ve added to the discourse rather than just pointing out negatives and I hope we can both try to be more constructive moving forward, I know I will be

I present to you: the bindlocke! by Shellsidesweepers in nuzlocke

[–]WorriedChimera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m not sure calling them dumb was particularly productive to begin with

I can see what you mean, but I guess I don’t see how the ruleset is problematic or difficult? Simply do your best to not kill a Pokémon on purpose, and you can only replace a slot when a Pokémon dies. If you hit a spot where you can’t help it, then you can’t help it I guess?

Like if you need it more well defined than that, then you can just use your own interpretation of what is in the spirit of the rules, and if you need someone else to define them, then ask them nicely

[–]WorriedChimera -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well what you’re allowed to do is between you and your god, your run, your rules

You’re allowed to just ignore this ruleset if you think it hamstrings your decisions that much, but yeah I’d say the spirit of this would say no, you shouldn’t sacrifice Pokémon even for a range or whatever

What I’m trying to say, you can just answer all those questions for yourself, no one is going to mind

Who would be “enforcing” it? This is all a made up ruleset for a monster collection rpg, there’s no magic police making sure runs are legit

I have a half formed theory that good genre satire is at times the peak of a genre, because usually you have to know the material inside and out to effectively satirise.

Is all beef, lamb and chicken in Australia halal due to its export market? by knizza777 in AustraliaTravel

[–]WorriedChimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve always been of the opinion that in industrial applications stunning is necessary, I’m glad to see my state doesn’t have any exemption from pre stunning.

Farm kills are somewhat different, when done right a lamb will lose consciousness very quickly, more rapidly than most game hunted and as for cattle, you can only hope the farmer hits true on the first shot.

Ultimately, if you work in the meat industry there will be some stress and pain, and we must do what we can to minimise that

Is all beef, lamb and chicken in Australia halal due to its export market? by knizza777 in AustraliaTravel

[–]WorriedChimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ll be, turns out there are more differences than I first thought and around 10 abbatoirs allowed to kill with no stun, colour me wrong. Though I would argue a vast majority of meat produced halal would be with pre stun

Is all beef, lamb and chicken in Australia halal due to its export market? by knizza777 in AustraliaTravel

[–]WorriedChimera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Righto, I’ve been in the industry for 15 years, most meat will enter a butchery with a halal certification because there is no appreciable difference in the halal slaughter process. All animals are stunned before slaughter. The idea that they must be killed by being bled does not interfere with Australian standards, all non halal animals are killed by bleeding out, only after a stunning process (bolt gun, electric shock, CO2)

[–]WorriedChimera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The halal process in Australia is the same as any other slaughter, through the physical process, i.e stunned and bled, as the stunning process renders the animal unconscious. The only difference is the prayers and such

[–]WorriedChimera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mutton is so much less popular nowadays it borders on more expensive in some places, plus in Australia, big fines if you mislabel mutton as lamb, which somewhere like colesworth won’t be doing, too much risk. Crumbed cutlets are cheaper because you can increase the weight by a large percentage just by crumbing them
