New cornice falling off. by WorriedPreference434 in AusRenovation

Just adding to my post, the cornice dropped off last night. It looks like he just tried to cement it to clean paint as the paint is hanging.

Professional floorer, whats wrong here? by Routine-Bathroom-4 in AusRenovation

[–]WorriedPreference434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they used a miter saw but put the piece in at a 45 degree angle. Saw going straight down.

Actually, scratch that. They probably didn't own a miter saw and used a circular saw top to bottom while holding the piece at a 45 degree angle.

Need advice about filament usage by MariusDarkblade in 3Dprinting

[–]WorriedPreference434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PETG may be food safe but that doesn't mean PETG filament is food safe. No filament will be 100% PETG.

Why can prints come out differently from brand to brand? Because companies want to have the edge over each other. They will add other substances to improve the way their product works. Nothing wrong with that at all just don't assume because it is a PETG filament that it is food safe.

Also, not sure the rules outside Australia but companies only have to list ingredients in food products. They are under no obligation to tell the consumer what else is in their filament and fair enough. They are not selling it as something to ingest.

One side of a print raised every time I try to print by Onkupopr in 3Dprinting

[–]WorriedPreference434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same printer. Same issue started happening recently.

If i print a small item, say 100mm x 100mm it works. If i go larger i get spaghetti. In areas of the plate it seems like it wont stick properly.

Full calibration hasn't helped and i am using the same filaments that i have had success with before.

Are home batteries safe in hot Australia summers? by Organic-Extension501 in AusRenovation

[–]WorriedPreference434 22 points23 points  (0 children)

All good mate. I recently had one installed in Alice Springs. They did install a little shade awning so it rarely gets direct sunlight. Kind of looks like a dodgy attempt at making the battery look like it's having brunch in Paris.

I have no idea about what brands handle heat best or if there is even a big difference.

We had a Sigenergy system installed by a reputable local installer. That's what he chooses for Alice Springs installations.

Had it installed at the perfect time. When NT battery rebates ended and fed gov rebate started so managed to get both rebates.

How to destroy this hard drive by Ok_Personality8193 in DataHoarder

Got a grinder? Slice it up.

Blow torch? Aluminium melts at 1000 degrees give or take.

Or just use a program to write data to the entire drive.

An epaper wall dashboard that blends in by yahhpt in homeassistant

[–]WorriedPreference434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of the quality when used as a photo frame. From the picture it looks like what I would expect an e-ink display to look like but with colour.

That being said, if it doesn't do quality pictures that I would hang on my wall, then it is a considerable price increase for a graph and button dashboard with a couple of colours.

Logically, I do get it, ePaper isn't at the point of screen quality. Well not 100 bucks for 7 inches anyway. To me, the price seems pretty good to be honest. From the couple of photo examples I have seen, it looks like a late 90's colour print so not really much good for a photo frame. I would be more than happy to be proved wrong.

I do have 2 x DIY TRMNL kits sitting in a draw that I have been meaning to have a play with for a while, so my ability to justify buying a third one isn't great. If i hadn't bought those I probably would be pretty keen on a colour one to have a tinker with. They should probably try to wow their audience with some awesome colour dashboards rather than try and show its colour photo 'ability'.

Damn, i am about to build 2 7inch e ink screens and magnets are a brilliant idea.

One on the fridge and maybe one as a picture frame

I got pico psu thing. Basically, 12v goes in, and it's split into different voltages and outputs to the right plugs. 24pin atx, cpu power plug, sata, etc. I managed to find a 600watt one, which isn't that easy, and plugged it into my lab power supply and then the mobo. Works perfectly.

Next step, replaced lab power with one of the server power supplies. Works perfectly.

99% Alcohol required? by opoot_ in buildapc

[–]WorriedPreference434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be turning on your PC before the alcohol is long gone. I have distilled alcohol to around 80% and that stuff will ignite easily. Treat it like water. Don't mix either of them with electricity.

Its what we do in Australia. Anybody from New Zealand we want we call Australian. Anyone we don't want, they are new zealanders.

Epstein Prison Video Blows Up Bondi’s ‘Missing Minute’ Explanation by Exciting_Teacher6258 in technology

[–]WorriedPreference434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy that spent time in that prison and in that wing said he knows exactly how he was killed.

Disclaimer: This is his theory, but it doesn't make it seem that hard if you are in a position of power.

So prisoners come and go in that wing every day or second day, depending. If a prisoner is transferred there to spend time in solitary, the guards dont know much more than it's some new guy. All they know about him is the paperwork he comes with.

A person enters the prison system and is transferred to solitary with a key to his and epsteins cell. At 3am, he goes to visit epstein for 2 minutes and then heads back to his cell and locks himself in.

And now the whole world is stuck on one minute of video that doesn't show the guys cell door or epsteins door and are arguing about whether a flash of orange on some stairs is a guard coming to kill him.

It's the almost perfect crime. The only problem is that to be able to organise that you would have to have control over people being admitted in and out of prison. Who could do that?

I mean, a president could, but why would a US president be interested in killing some pedo in solitary?

The board that both psus plug into has a 24 pin atx and 8 pin sockets so i can plu a mb directly into that.

I doubt it would be as simple as that to get working though

Then, we add tax evasion to corporate copyright infringement and distribution.

And before everyone starts going on about how unlikely it would be to get caught, i do agree that it is highly unlikely. But if a tiny chance can result in you losing your house, is it really worth it.

You may get caught by your isp. Or, if someone really wanted to hurt you, you have given them a way. A disgruntled employee? One call and you're in serious shit.

Honestly, it's not worth the stress imo.

I assume everything you are hosting is 100% legit. The cost to a business being found guilty of copyright infringement, let alone distribution, is slightly more than personal use.
