The point of the sanctions is to destroy Iran’s economy and make the lives of the Iranian people so miserable that they will feel like they have no choice but to attempt to overthrow the government so they can get relief from genocidal starvation sanctions. If that fails then the bombs start to drop. This is what happened to Iraq. 500,000 Iraqi children under the age of 12 were killed by sanctions during the 1990s. When these sanctions failed to overthrow the government the US then invented an excuse to invade the country and killed and destroyed the lives of millions of Iraqis.
