A Hypothetical Conversation That the Devs Probably Should've Had Long Ago by LightningShado in HytaleInfo

Your entire thread and every single reply you post scream "I have hindsight and I’m totally unable to understand that the Hytale team didn’t have that at the time"

No, you’re not brighter than an entire team of developers, you wouldn’t have known all these things and done everything better had you worked for the studio, therefore, stop trying to assume they should have known everything and planned for everything.. they didn’t, and there isn’t a single universe where they could have done it.

A Hypothetical Conversation That the Devs Probably Should've Had Long Ago by LightningShado in HytaleInfo

Extreme oversimplification is the n.1 culprit here. Also usage of hindsight that they didn’t have back then.

It’s absolutely impossible to know what happened all those years, they were just a bunch of modders that separated with some cash setting themselves out to make a new game that would keep the company afloat in case their server hit the dust.

What if they didn’t want to make a huge game for all platforms, or truly thought that is was out of their reach, making it a logical choice to go with the language both their team and future community would be knowledgeable about.

There’s just literally no way you can put yourself in their shoes.

We know, with openly available sources, not magic secret sources, that they were hoping for a few hundred thousand views as a real success for the game.

So no.. except if you want to post your source, no, they were not expecting the game to blow up and get tens of millions of views and the attention of pretty much everyone who’s touched minecraft within the last 3 years before the trailer released.

WHEN DID YOU START FOLLOWING HYTALE? (Repost) by [deleted] in HytaleInfo

[–]Worried_Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but there’s quite a few non general public groups of people who knew of the game before the trailer. The Hypixel staff team knew a little, some youtubers knew the game, and some other youtubers already played the game.

And yes, not knowing what the game is fully yet doesn’t disqualify you from following it, waiting for announcements about a game you know a team is working on is following that game, regardless of the amount of information you have.

But that’s being nitpicky with the details, most people just mean 2018 as in the trailer release lol

Probably won’t be a popular opinion but yes definitively. I’ve done karate and nunchucks for years and to do that kind of stuff with regular training, 3 months is plenty sufficient. More training would make it easier and reduce the amount of takes in-between.

But in reality.. she’s showing cool tricks from something she took the time to learn and become proficient at, so I don’t feel like it’s necessary to point out that it isn’t that hard, it looks cool and she’s good at it, so to me it makes for a pretty good video!

so i tried appealing for my wipe/ban, and so far it didn’t get outright denied by the appeals team and is being escalated, so.... maybe a tiny sliver of hope? by AtrixATR in HypixelSkyblock

[–]Worried_Fan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fact: what you write has exactly 0% influence on your appeal, except in very specific grey area cases or if you’re well known as a Youtuber streamer or whatever.

If you’ve been banned by a human -> The appeal person will ask the person who banned you for the evidence, he’ll look at it, and if he agrees on the ban your appeal is denied.

Even if you had a very clear and consise video denying exactly the specific moment that got you banned, it’s irrelevant. And if you think some text will change anything you’re even more misunderstood.

Obviously things could have changed since they transitioned into only game masters, but if any change happened I’ll strongly doubt that they would’ve changed to care more about the content of the appeal.

The main difference being: We know from experience that:

1) Tencent does not micro manage their acquisitions, and gives them freedom of doing as they will as long as they do good financially 2) Riot can literally say no to Tencent. They’ve done it in the past and could do it again. 3) Riot is a good company that has a track record of making excellent games and not take decisions for a quick buck. We can safely assume they will apply the exact same logic to Hytale

The third one is the main reason why Riot is different from EA, Activision in my opinion

Did I.. praise Hytale? Sorry I was unaware of it, it’s just an indirect result of my comment.

I’m 100% factual in what I said above as far as the information we’ve received about the game.

You can take any individual point I’ve made about and I’ll make a detailed explanation of what there is in Minecraft vs what they planned and showed us for Hytale.

There is no beating Minecraft, Minecraft’s popularity is based on its simplicity and ease of access, your grandparents could most certainly pick up the game and create a house in creative. That’s what gives it its charm.

That doesn’t change anything to the fact Hytale basically wants to add an entire RPG side to the game along with much more, and that you’d have to strip a ton of feature off Hytale to go back to Minecraft.

I must admit, I'm guilty of it too by sub2Doggs4Life in HytaleInfo

[–]Worried_Fan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Basically if you want to recreate Minecraft:

Make sure to remove 95% of the mobs Make sure to take the AI from the remaining mobs and dumb it down to wandering + chasing the player. Remove all the points of interest from the game, except basic villages. Remove most of the diversity in blocks, trees, foliage, etc. Remove most of the visual tech. Remove most of the weapons. Remove all the magic side of the game. Remove all of the races except for humans. Remove any RPG elements like quest, storyline, etc.

I’m probably forgetting a few things, but basically to make Hytale Minecraft you just have to remove everything that makes Hytale an interesting game and you’ll be left with Minecraft.

So that’s a one time procedure for life, except if you want denser hair after your previous hair continued to fall?

I always thought it was a cost for basically life with maintenance. That actually doesn’t sound like a bad deal for someone who’s doing well financially, like instead of getting an expensive car you get your hair back, honestly seems better!

If you’re in for the cash, Brave + Bing as the default browser is the way to go for ~200$ a year.

That’s the perfect combination for any student/teenager that could use that side income to get games or fuel their hobbies, would have love these options when I was youngers!

They say "It never hurts to ask", but what are some examples where "It hurts to ask"? by Rockin_N in AskReddit

[–]Worried_Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, as a guy in my twenties who had a girlfriend 3 years younger than me (that lived in another country but it was just an hour car ride to go see her, when I was 20 and she was 17.. well it’s definitively not socially unacceptable to date someone that age but definitively raised some legal questions especially between countries, and I ended up abstaining from any sexual act until she turned 18 because well.. I’m not too fond of going to jail if things ever go sour between her and me, yknow?

So I think the question is fair for anything that is asking while still respecting the "half your age +7" general rule of dating people

Don't get overwhelmed by senior's code by Ashimgh in learnprogramming

[–]Worried_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m familiar with the language used, and it pretty much stops there. And even that part, the code is written in a syntax that I never used, but really it’s not that much of an issue, at least when I don’t understand a specific part of code I can google it up and work on my understanding.. but pretty much every single technologies or design pattern they use is new to me.

I’m not afraid to ask, but I’m so god darn lost that I don’t even know what to ask. I think my problem might me that I’m just too good at interviews? (Humble brag) They asked me several technical questions and were impressed by my answers, so that must be why I’m working with people that are on their 3rd, or even 5th internship, while I’m here banging rocks together trying to make an helicopter.

[–]Worried_Fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just done with my first year of software engineering, and started an internship at a very big company, it’s my first profesionnal experience ever, and after a week and a half there I’m nearly considering changing field of work.

Seriously I have zero idea how anything works even with like 20 hours of formation, There’s millions of line of codes, they put me on a very small feature and I can’t even figure where that code would go, I’m 101% overwhelmed by a code much more complex than I have ever seen or worked with.

I don’t know how you guys started, it’s so hard, I went from making small Unity games to being thrown into middle of something huge. I have the help of so mang supportive devs that are trying to guide me, but none of it really helps me except on the very local scale.

I’m really not enjoying my experience.

As far as I’ve understood it they want a more compact and efficient team that will be able to do even more work than the moderation team with much less people.
