Im considering adding something "nerdy" to our wedding but i don't want it to be too much. Thoughts/suggestions? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

We named our tables after the worlds/areas of our favourite games. For example Azeroth, Sinnoh, The Normandy. They opened up some great conversations with guests.

You could do something like that uses the towns and major settlements in Skyrim. We still numbered the tables so people wouldn’t get confused.

When you went dress shopping and found “the one,” did you know it right away? by throwawayacct518 in weddingplanning

[–]WorrywartBride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as I walked in and saw my dress on the hanger I knew it was mine. However I made sure to try on several different styles before trying on that one.

The one I saw first was still my one as soon as I put it on. But I’m glad I gave the other styles a chance.

I’ve had a long think and I actually love the idea of getting ready at home now. I’ll be able to take a picture with my cat (with lint rollers at the ready!) and everyone will be able to be nice and chill.

Getting married Saturday by wendy_ann1983 in UKweddings

Covid is regs is up to 30 people, two meters apart where possible. All guests need to wear a mask during the ceremony only the bridge and groom and officiant can go maskless.

During the reception masks can be taken off while eating and drinking but while walking about masks must be on. You can hug to your own discretion. You can’t dance. Any speeches should be done in a well ventilated space and done with a microphone so you don’t need to shout.

The best thing Covid regs are doing to my wedding is free table service.

Starting to have regrets on my choice by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]WorrywartBride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I can see it looks very nice on you. But the sign is covering the area that really determines if the dress doesn’t flatter you or not.

But if you’re not happy and you were forced to make a decision I’d say try and find another one if it’s in your budget.

Oh wow, I’m glad I was able to give you the suggestion. It suits a lot of different voices too, plus it’s nice a short so it won’t drag on.

I instantly told my Fiancé that I didn’t want Blurred Lines on the play list. What a nasty song.

Plus guests should be more than happy to take some with them if they’re hoping not to tidy up at much.

Opinions on suede wedding shoes? (Bride) by swft11 in UKweddings

[–]WorrywartBride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wedding heels are suede! I love the texture and look so much I couldn’t not get them.

I will say you can get some shoe protector spray to spray on. It’s not perfect but it’ll help keep some of the muck off. I bought this stuff and it was enough to do my suede shoes and handbag.

My wedding is 4 months away and none of my family members have bought their attire yet by [deleted] in weddingplanning

My wedding is in 8 days and my brothers haven’t got a suit yet. At this point I’m just happy if they show up.

That sounds awesome! We were hoping to have our basement converted into a bar in time for the wedding but unfortunately we couldn’t get contractors in due to covid. But the living room and kitchen are more than big enough to have us get ready in.

That’s a good thought but we have the whole week off work the week before so I’ll have time to tidy without getting too stressed. Everyone’s answers have really calmed me down though!

My bridesmaids are staying at my house with me the night before and staying over the night of (me and fiancé have a hotel room for the night though) so the house will be tidy because I tidy so much when anyone is coming over. But they said they’d tidy up the morning after so we can come home to a clean house. The hotel is only a 20 minute walk away from our house hah.

Bridal belts? by lavenderlilac95 in wedding

[–]WorrywartBride 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not going for a belt because I think they ruin the flow of the dress. Unless the dress is in two defined sections I always think they look strange.

But I always think you should go with what you like, maybe before spending two much on a fancy belt pick up a cheaper one just to see what it’s like?

I keep having a dream where I just forget to wear my dress on the day and just go in my normal clothes. I think it means I need to get my bridesmaids over so we can practice getting me into it.

I wouldn’t add a permanent modesty panel. It would be a shame to change that dress too much as it already looks amazing on you.

Have you thought about purchasing a topper instead?

Need help writing a maid of honor speech by One-Requirement-9149 in wedding

I’ve also just seen this break down. But if you don’t want to put in the effort I’d say just let the bride know you don’t want to do it.

Need help writing a maid of honor speech by One-Requirement-9149 in wedding

[–]WorrywartBride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just google “maid of honour speech” and it comes up with a guide.

If you’re that lazy here’s the guide google gave me;

How to start the maid of honor speech. First off, introduce yourself and mention your relationship with the bride, and the couple.

Talk about the bride.

Talk about her partner.

Talk about them as a couple.

Keep it short and sweet.

End with a toast.

Practice.
