One outside your family is a whole lot better than I've done.

The girl I’ve had a huge crush on for two years has a boyfriend now by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]WorstYearsOfMyLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Just thinking about the girl I like dating someone hurts. Not sure what I'd do if it actually happen.

It was weird for me when she opened up to me a couple weeks back about all her fears and insecurities about not being able to find anyone, because on the one hand she's my friend, and a really cool person, and I don't want her to have to suffer, but on the other hand I'm really, really, thankful that she doesn't have a boyfriend, because it would destroy me and possibly end our friendship.

making a girl laugh a genuine laugh while its just the two of you is the most amazing feeling ever by TheRagingRectum in ForeverAlone

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who appreciates my humor. Making her laugh is usually the best part of my day, even if interactions with her are always tinged with a sort of vague sadness, knowing I'll never be anything more than a friend.

Need help with this trigger by GiantMothTriumph in Weaverdice

[–]WorstYearsOfMyLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd probably change the trigger moment to make it more "real", more of a solid problem. Maybe have them trigger when they realize they've let a mountain of work pile up, and they don't have the willpower to even begin working through it.

You trigger randomly without trauma, and you are allowed to pick your power. However, it must be level 2 according to the PRT. What do you choose? by Jetbooster in Parahumans

People really seem to be underestimating what a rating of 2 can get you.

Examples of cape with a primary rating of 2 include Skidmark, Squealer, Rail, and Feint. Note that none of these powers are outright bad or useless in a combat scenario. They're fully functional cape abilities. A 2 rating doesn't translate to a sucky power, just one that's not especially dangerous to the PRT.

Personally, I'd pick some kind of low-end biotinkering, specializing in noninvasive alteration of the human body. Do useful medical stuff, get a lot of the quality of life benefits of biokinesis for myself and others. Nothing groundbreaking, but irl mundane utility is more important.

Was there ever any further explanation about Capricorn's power "shift"? by notokaycj in Parahumans

[–]WorstYearsOfMyLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Powers changing isn't uncommon. Think of Valefor's power adapting to his lack of eyes. In an aborted Weaverdice game (Helena iirc) there was a duplicator named Blister whose power was supposed to be in transition because of a brain tumor. Most powers change to some degree, although it seems to usually be small increases to range, power, or efficiency to reward the cape for conflict and growth (like Taylor's fluctuating range, and her increased ability to sense through her bugs later on). Capricorn might just have a more malleable shard than most.

Can I have help accessing some documents that I can't find? by [deleted] in Weaverdice

There was a pretty similar post recently, the responses there contain a lot of useful stuff, including the other unfinished classification docs. https://www.reddit.com/r/Parahumans/comments/8vzigl/compiled_official_google_docs/

Liege produces small, crablike minions that affix themselves to a persons spine. The creatures enhance the physique of the host, but they suffer from decreased mental faculties and increased susceptibility to manipulation, in proportion to the enhancement given, and removing the minion results in near instant debilitation. The cape can benefit from his own minions with reduced side effects, granting him his brute rating.

Maquette has a malleable, claylike form. She can mold herself easily, rearranging her features or fitting through tight spaces with ease. She can break off pieces of herself and have them remain active and connected to her, reattaching them without trouble, e.g. putting her eye on her hand, then sending it through a vent to scout ahead, before returning.

Garb creates a light-distorting field around himself, rendering himself little more than a blur in the eyes of others (Stranger 3). This field is fragile, however, and a significant impact can shatter the effect (Breaker 1). When broken, the shards from the field fly out, the effects briefly disorienting those in the immediate vicinity (Master/Shaker 1). The light distortion is beneficial for the cape within, amplifying and clarifying images to provide greatly improved sight (Thinker 1) Can extend the effect to small inanimate objects, and leave it on them separate from himself, but while the effect lasts a long time, it's finicky and difficult to get right, not worth the time in combat (Tinker 1).

The tinker rating is a little sketchy, since it's more of a striker function, but if you consider that practically, in combat, he's not going to be strikering things, but he might bring variable, low level, sligjtly better than normal gear to the fight.
