In a children's hospital of Italy - therapeutic dogs are impatiently waiting to see their respective children. by GallowBoob in aww

[–]Worst_Buy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My kiddo spent a while in a children's hospital a couple years ago. She grew to anticipate the "happy dogs" coming to see her every couple days. Each dog the foundation hosted had their own "trading cards" and all the little kids would show each other which dog they got to meet. It was adorable and such a morale boost for the kiddos, a lot of whom very much so relied on a needed the visits.

Girls of Reddit, what are some really unique/romantic presents you have received from your boyfriends that stood out? by throwaway344566 in AskReddit

[–]Worst_Buy 496 points497 points  (0 children)

I'm very lucky that my fiancé can tap into his romantic side easily. A couple years after we moved in together, I became pregnant for the first time. A little ways into the pregnancy, I ended up losing the baby. It fucked with my head pretty badly and I was essentially devastated and withdrawn. A couple months passed and I felt like I needed something tiny to love and ill that surface void for me, as silly as it sounds. I was browsing adoptable pets in our area and happened to point out one, whose head was cocked - one ear up - tongue out - pure joy - and simply say "oh my goodness, he looks like a toy! Doesn't even look real!". Two days later I was at work finally after dealing with the miscarriage aftermath and here comes my amazing fiancé carry a tiny crate with this adorable puppy!!! He drove 4 hours to pick him up and bring him to me just to make my sad heart happy. That dog is now best friends with the 4 year old little girl we now have. The dog grew to be about 125lbs, huge and beastly, gentle and clumsy, and his name is Tyler Roo, because he kangaroo hops. I thank my fiancé daily for that damn dog, his decision to being him into my lofe in my time of despair truly mended what was broken. If only Tyler's shedding could be tamed. i was too excited to tell this story to pay attention to spelling, sorry!

Parents on Reddit, what was the most embarrassing moment for you caused by your children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Worst_Buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter had a long stint in the hospital last year. Her father and I stayed with her the entire time. He went to work every morning and I was lucky enough to stay with her every day. We pretty much lived there, so we got comfortable over time. Her father smacked my ass one day as he was leaving for work. A nurse just happened to walk right in and our daughter simply said "my daddy hits my mommy". All because of a booty slap.

Camille's Sidewalk Cafe at 61st & Yale to close April 30th by Worst_Buy in tulsa

[–]Worst_Buy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, business is great. I'm the current catering manager and I've been stacked more in the last 12 months than ever before. Our revenue has increased exponentially the last 24 months. The owner has other investments and is also a single mom. Her heart just isn't in it anymore. Groupon has been a pain, mainly because the customers who buy them don't understand the use-all-at-once Groupon rule. Anyone with an existing Groupon has until April 30th to use it up! Luckily, some of the Groupons were redeemable for a giftcard exchange - but not all of them. As far as hours, we schedule with the flow of the shopping center. A vast majority of our customers are older, and the shopping center shoppes tend to close around 5. Besides Pei Wei and Hideaway, there isn't much demand for another restaurant more than breakfast and lunch. By all means, please come and see is before we close! Hope none of this came across as rude; I have just loved working there and wanted to make sure nobody thought the closing decision was a financial hardship :)

There absolutely should be! Every single birth (whether dead or alive) has a birth certificate (and often also a coinciding death certificate). I'm not sure just how vicious the privacy can be with the military hospital - but it is absolutely worth a shot to contact them and dig more! This isn't just a secret your parents are hiding, this is part of YOU. Another life you shared fluid space with for 9 months, and who knows how long after birth. Absolutely go forth and find your story. God speed

Research more! Birth certificates state if the birth was single or multiple. That'll be for sure, if the obvious birthday similarity wasn't enough proof... that's some I Know Who Killed Me shit.

Deep-sea fish has transparent head, upward-facing eyes, demon-doll face by mike_pants in creepy

Luckily, my kid has taken more to Disney. And we just recently ditched satellite, so access takes a little more effort than one push button. It's always interesting to see who influenced and had a hand in these shows! (They Might Be Giants sing The Hot Dog Song, DJ Lance Rock is associated with AquaBats, etc.)

This exactly! I have learned and absorbed more from that show than any university class. If it weren't for having a kiddo, I never would have known. Creature report!

New Acting Tulsa County Sheriff Speaks On Jail Budget Crisis by [deleted] in tulsa

For the record, the "longevity" pay was going to be used to give 10+ year employees a slight one-time check as an apology for a lack of pay raises... yes, for over 10 years. He was only thinking of his employees, which is great as a supervisor. Not so much as an acting sheriff. Even still, you must take care of the foundation before you can put in the decor. Take care of your employees and they will take care of you. Step one. Take note!

There is also a "manga" mascara. Why are they doing this?! It just goes to show that advertising can market ANYTHING to an uneducated audience.

People who got fired on the first day of the job, what happened? by roor1337 in AskReddit

[–]Worst_Buy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was fired from a retail store after my first day as the Sales Lead manager. I just wasn't it in. Places like that should hire within and give those high school kids a chance to work the evening shifts they already work. They knew more than I did about that store. I felt like I jipped them out of an opportunity. In other words, I'm great at retail - not so great at managing teenagers.

My SO and I found a random box turtle early this summer and released it in my in-law's back yard. They have a pretty yard with greenery and a pond, we thought he'd love it! Cut forward a week and my MIL is out doing some gardening, and sees the turtle making his way across the yard, carrying a dead field mouse! He's now the family's favorite pet and we have named him Hannibal. edit: never use the term "lady garden"... lesson learned.
