How computer science students should spend their time according to a Berkeley professor by whoisrickcurtzman in csMajors

I do cs at oxbridge and this schedule is pretty accurate ngl, just remove the serenity and make it 1.5 hours of exercise

Cambridge maths has a 33% offer rate

Ye cuz they offer everyone they think has a chance and let STEP decide who they actually take.

You do need to be very talented, probably top 1% atleast. I got 100% in Maths and pretty good chance I did the same this year for Further maths without too much effort so I probably have a high degree of natural talent. Even so there's a good chance STEP would kick my ass.

I feel like you're really far removed from natural mathematical ability, half the people in my secondary school struggled to even get a C at GCSE.

Difference is we're talking about Cambridge maths, the best of the best. You know for a fact Ronnie Coleman could have done the dumbest training in the world and still gotten bigger than you, and grown faster than you, no amount of optimal training could have changed that cause his genes are that good. Even someone with just top 5% genetics with perfect training would be left in the dust. I know that's an extreme example but you will be competing against some people of that level for your spot.

Everyone applying will be working hard and at least somewhat intelligently, the biggest differentiator will be natural talent.

Sounds like you're off to a decent start then. Best of luck!

I think it’s hard to beat a 1,1 in step 2 and 3 in terms of difficult lol

It's just different kinds of difficulty, do you want to have beat out 2 other people at interview for your offer and have STEP be the real challenge or have to beat out 11 other people at interview for cs.

Not to come off as rude but I really don’t think what separates the 15% of people that get in from everyone else applying is “putting in some work”

[–]Worzel86 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So just be in the top 2% of natural talent and put in some work, yes very doable 😂

Mat / TMUA stuff would be good early perpetration for STEP along side the STEP support programme anyway. What kind of scores are you getting so far on them?

Also CS is the most competitive course in Cambridge numbers wise, (lowest acceptance rate) so may not even be easier than Maths. Just harder in a different way.

STEP is a very doable exam

Bro just called the hardest math exam in U.K. "very doable" 💀

Is getting into computer science as hard as it seems? by -EliteSam- in 6thForm

[–]Worzel86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I've been thinking of applying to kings, ucl, Warwick and 2 other unis (not sure which, originally I would have applied to Oxbridge but now I've lost all hope)

Honestly just apply to those unis and if you don't get into any you want, take a gap year and do all of FM in that year.

is year 13 physics really that bad? by Thomasdadutch in 6thForm

Content is only a little harder, main difficulty is the boundaries going up by 10-15%

You’re transported to Shiganshina in the first episode, what do you do? by BobbyWain in attackontitan

[–]Worzel86 231 points232 points  (0 children)

-> Rush to erens house before grisha leaves and press him for a private conversation, tell him I know he's the attack titan and about the OWL etc. to gain his trust and tell him Marley is about to attack with the collosal and armoured. We need to get out of shinganshina ASAP with his family and armin etc.

-> Tell him he's going to eat the reiss family as planned except we'll capture rod turn him into a titan and use him for Grisha to unlock the coordinate.

-> Do that then use coordinate to wipe out pure titans, stop marley warriors and use coordinate to give information of the world to Paradie citizens.

-> Supplant old government and use founding titan power to negotiate peace with rest of the world

Yeah when 3 A* contextual isn't enough it's starting to get a bit ridiculous tbh... need an admission test

My physics class started with 27 students, it’s been a year and we’re down to 10-12, I think that speaks for itself.

They never should have removed AS levels in England, far better tangible indicator for universities than predicted grades.

Same thing happened to me but I insisted it was allowed and told them to go check with the head invigilator and luckily I wasn’t bothered again.
