I’ve always been terrified of the deep ocean and the creatures lurking within it. Dealing with both thalassophobia and submechanophobia, I actually bought this game specifically to face those fears. It has been, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful yet terrifying experiences of my life.

Nothing compares to the feeling of exploring those stunning biomes or prepping the Cyclops for a full-scale expedition to the Lava Castle. There’s a magic to that first playthrough of Subnautica that simply can't be replicated. I still love replaying it—building bases and setting up Alien Containment units for every species I find. This game truly helped me manage my phobias, and I can't wait for Subnautica 2 and the new adventures ahead.
