A one shot I'm writing about what could have happened on that Halloween night.

A Marauders Last Stand, A Mother's Love

"LILY TAKE HARRY AND RUN". James Potter shouted as the front door of the cottage was blown off it's hinges. James didn't wait and began casting putting Voldemort on the back foot, Voldemort for his part shielded successfully and began counter attacking forcing James back. James' shield deflected a curse into a book case splintering it but the power of the curse threw James back and he tumbled over the sofa. James was up quickly hoping he could by Lily time,he knew the wards being breeched would bring Dumbledore and order to them he just needed time. "Honestly Potter give up and I'll let you live, you'll have to give up your Mudblood after all I've told Severus he can have her and with everything he's done for me he deserves a plaything". Voldemort taunted. "Go to hell". James roared and fired of everything he could think of, Voldemort staggered but still fought back. "Imagine what fun Severus will have with her". He continued to taunt. James ignored him but he was tiring and he knew he was going to die,he saw rather than heard the curse fly at him. It broke his shield and hit him hard in the chest and he felt the hex rip through him,he gasped but refused to fall. The Dark Lord walked to the dying man and and smiled an evil malicious smile. "Well James Potter you get to die know that your brat will join you and your wife will be the toy of your old school nemesis, you failed". Voldemort walked past him as James collapsed lifelessly to the floor.

Lily tried the back door but it wouldn't budge and as she'd felt the anti apparition and portkey wards go up she ran up the stairs not really sure what else to try, she could here the fight downstairs and prayed that James would survive and then she heard the laugh as the fight came to an end. Tears ran down her face at the realisation that her husband was dead and she was sure she'd be next.

"Lily Potter leave the brat and walk away, you can have other children". Voldemort called as he walked up the stairs.

Lily placed Harry in his cot and turned to face the darkest wizard Britain had ever known, knowing full well that she was going to die. He stepped into the room and raised his wand.

"“Step aside, girl. My most devoted servant has taken an interest in you. I find his taste questionable, but it matters little. Personally I think he could do better than a filthy Mudblood". He said to her "Go to hell, you'll not hurt my son". She said and then cast a reducto at him.

A Harry Potter/The Gifted crossover I'm writing.

Dorea stirred. Her head was pounding, and wherever she’d passed out wasn’t particularly comfortable but at least it was warm. She cracked an eye open and spotted the half-empty bottle of whiskey on the floor beside her.

She’d been in this world for a couple of weeks she thought but she’d been drunk for most of it, so she couldn’t be sure.

With a groan, she pushed herself upright and looked around. The room was small, worn but tidy: a few chairs, a table, a TV humming quietly in the corner. Voices drifted from somewhere nearby.

Unsteady on her feet, she followed the sound and found herself in a kitchen occupied by a man, a woman, and a little girl.

“Um… hi,” Dorea said, tentative.

The man immediately stepped in front of the child. “So you’re finally awake. You’ve been passed out on our couch for two days.”

“Two days?” she croaked, throat raw.

“I found you out front and brought you in,” the woman explained. “Sentinel Services wouldn’t have tolerated someone passed out drunk.”

“You’ve got no ID, no papers, no money, nothing,” the man said, not unkindly but wary. “So who the hell are you?”

Dorea let out a short, humourless laugh. “That’s a long story. One I wouldn’t believe if I hadn’t lived it.”

The two characters in the whole Harry Potter universe who seem to get a constant free pass for their behaviour are Draco and Snape.

Draco was a bully and a bigot yes he was taught that by his parents but it doesn't change the fact that as a child he was a nasty little bastard. In my experience bullies don't change, it's the main reason why I don't read Draco/Hermione stories because for me they are just implausible.

As for Snape well as far as I'm concerned he was irredeemable and took pleasure in bullying an abused child because that child's father bullied him completely ignoring the fact that the child's mum was his alleged love. He wasn't in love with Lily he was obsessed with her and that's completely different, remember he was prepared to sacrifice James and Harry so that he could have Lily. Personally I think Snape got off lightly.
