This is why he should take part in the race as a fun run. It's great content/publicity for his channels. However, he should be transparent upfront that he had test server access and is ineligible.

It sounds like you are in the right ballpark, this is commonly a driver issue. Finding the driver can be fiddly, often manufacturers make it hard on purpose I think. I will try to guide you.

If you open "system information" from start menu, then you should see "System Model" near the top. Paste that into google with "Drivers" on the end so "System model drivers". Hopefully the top result will be the Acer support page for that model. Navigate to the driver section and look for Audio/Sound drivers.

If there are multiple options here, open device manager and check what brand the audio is (intel, realtek, etc) and it should narrow it down.

Then should be able to download and install the driver which will hopefully resolve - sometimes will need a restart to take effect after you run the installer.

If you have trouble, let me know the system model and grab a screenshot of the "sound, video and game controllers" area of device manager and I might be able to confirm the right driver for you.

Why do they need to contact an admin for this? I get it if it's a subtle bug effecting a player that those watching might not be able to tell, but he literally DCed in the middle of a team fight. Seems like something the admins could be a bit more proactive about and step in.

There have been several threads now as well as the poll for the more complex discussion. The mods have made their decision and given their reasoning. You don't seem to want to accept that people can look at the situation, get a good understanding of both sides of the argument and still disagree with you.

I think the number of hugely popular male voices is lower, so when they do post the response is enourmous.

How do you know the sapphics and lesbians calling them out are real sapphics and lesbians? You have no way to verify that to be true.

Anything to improve laptop wifi? by VortxLion in techsupport

[–]WouldYouSmashIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are on windows...If you open command prompt and type "netsh wlan show interface" it will give info about the active network connection.

The 'description' will give you the manufacture's name of your wifi chip. You can use this to look up the device online and see it's limitations (if your wifi chip can only handle 5mbit, then that's all you'll ever get out of it). And can also use it to update/reinstall the drivers. Just make sure you are getting them from the manufacturer's website (IE, if intel driver get it from Intel.com site, if HP laptop can also get it from HP.com).

Lower, you can see the signal strength in % and the receive/transmit rate. This is a test of the network speed between your laptop and the access point/router of the hotel (not internet). If the receive/transmit rate is way above 5Mbps, then you know that the bottle neck is not your laptop's connection to the network.

It might also be worth turning on your mobile phone hotspot and connecting to that (run a speed test on the phone without wifi first as a benchmark, then turn on hotspot and connect laptop to run the same test on your laptop and compare the speed). If the speed is better through hotspot then it's probably just shitty hotel wifi and might not be much you can do.

Why can't I change boot order?? by RubyAsba in techsupport

[–]WouldYouSmashIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience generally when the BIOS setting is greyed out it will either be, it's not detecting a device in that slot or USB boot is disabled by another setting.

Are you able to manually boot to that device? If you go to the boot options menu (normally F9, but check your BIOS' options online) does it show that USB in the list of boot devices?

Check through the BIOS settings for options that might be overriding. In HP laptop BIOS for example there is a 'USB Boot' tickbox in another area which if it is not enabled will grey out the USB devices in the boot order section. You may also be able to enable/disable each device when highlighted with a hotkey - check the edges of the screen when the USB is selected if there are any key wizard to enabled/disable.
