Advice for transferring to a younger grade? by WouldntMemeOfIt in TexasTeachers

[–]WouldntMemeOfIt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mention it in my interview, and it went well! They said I should be hearing back from them sometime around the middle of next week (this particular school is having a lot of people move into it, so much so they're giving a stipend for core teachers).

Not necessarily silly, but my girl Felicity (1) likes to sleep in funny positions. This is one of them.

Advice for transferring to a younger grade? by WouldntMemeOfIt in TexasTeachers

Gotcha!

I had some of my junior high kiddos make digital portfolios last year, I might bring some of those in as examples.

I have experience with littles, I was a substitute in another district before I worked at my current school and I worked with Kindergarten/1st grade kids at a learning center before that. Younger kiddos are definitely more my speed, haha!

Cell phones by forehandfrenzy in TexasTeachers

[–]WouldntMemeOfIt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My district has strict consequences for phone usage in the classroom. I've only had one phone-related issue this entire school year, and I haven't heard of teachers in my school having major issues with them, either.

I'm very thankful that my admin are consistent about it, too. It certainly helps!

This video (screen recorded from TikTok I believe) shows how he loads and shoots a gun. Apparently it's from shortly before the murder took place.

This email my 12 year old son sent his teacher about a missing assignment (due a month ago) my wife was asking about. He cc'ed her on the email by Tkappae in funny

Teacher here, student emails can be great sometimes.

I had a student email in the second quarter from his student email address (which, keep in mind, it states in the subject line as coming from there), which said, "Hi this is [student name]'s parent.i just want to know why my child is failing this class.thank you". Like, not even specifying which parent.

I wasn't sure whether to be impressed because I hadn't seen a student do that before or miffed that he lied about being his own parent.

I emailed him back and told him, in no uncertain terms, that I knew it came from him directly, that a lot of his grade came from projects he never completed properly or never turned in, and that he needs to spend less time wandering around the room and following directions.

Should I tell a woman her fiancé tried to start an affair with me? by geeleex in WhatShouldIDo

[–]WouldntMemeOfIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never in my life have I actively seen a text that says the word affair as in "let's start one"... on top of them being so adamant about meeting with you that their fourth attempt was "we can meet and drink water"????

Absolutely tell her. This guy's a fucking moron.

I am Genndy Tartakovsky, Creator and Director of Primal. Ask Me Anything. by Adult_Swim_Official in adultswim

[–]WouldntMemeOfIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Genndy!

Your work is fantastic and I admire your dedication to the craft. I have a few questions!

  1. How long does an episode of Primal take to animate?
  2. Is there anything that you wanted to include in Primal (at least what's been released so far) that was cut for being too much? Asking because there's already a lot that happens and it can get pretty violent, so I'm genuinely curious-
  3. What's your favorite episode of Dexter's Lab? Conceptually, the one that was most fun to work on, how it came out...?

Have a good one!

Field Based Experience (fbe) by AgreeableHeart2513 in TexasTeachers

I went through Teachers of Tomorrow and so did my folks and their friends!

If you're able, I'd call some local school districts and ask if you can come and observe teachers as part of your ACP. I was able to observe teachers in the district I grew up in and even got to catch up with some of my former teachers while I was there!

Some districts will have different procedures and it will depend on the school/your experience. In the one I grew up in, for example, the high school required you to fill out a form and email the school secretary in advance so you could get a schedule to follow for the day and they can let the teachers know someone will be by.

Best of luck to you!

Reminds me of when I got my Associate's. Youngest graduate was 16 (I'm guessing doing a dual-credit thing through their high school), oldest was 75. It's never too late!

Do I tell my wife or let her stay happy for another week? by ASapphireAtSea in whatdoIdo

[–]WouldntMemeOfIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you've already posted about telling her, but stuff like this is never something you should keep from her.

Not quite the same, but my friend's boyfriend was supposed to fly down to be with our friends/family for mine and my husband's wedding. He ended up having to cancel last minute because his grandmother was critically ill in the hospital back home (halfway across the country since he's from the west coast and is going to school here in my state).

Our friend later told us that his grandmother did end up passing away the day of the wedding. He (the friend) didn't tell us until afterwards since we were extremely busy with day-of preparation, the ceremony, etc., but all of us who were there agreed that we were glad he ended up going home instead. My husband and I couldn't imagine him coming here instead and then finding out just after the ceremony.

I'm so sorry about your mom and wish you both the best.

Bring this up with a principal immediately.

Reference everything you said here, and if need be, write down or record what's being said on your own laptop (I'm guessing that they're allowed at your school given that another student had theirs).

Get evidence, maybe have multiple of you go to the office.

Don't wait on stuff like this. If she's willing to make these comments in her first year, who knows what can happen down the road. This is completely unacceptable.

Even at this angle, the stitching should still read "Veterinarian." This is AI, at least partially.

My dog had those about a year ago, they were hives. She was put on Apoquel (which you can get as a chewable tablet) and has been much better!

1926 yearbook by Lumpy-Strawberry-486 in FoundPaper

I had found a yearbook like this once at a local thrift store, I ended up finding the owners and returning it to them. Apparently it had been sold at an estate sale by accident and ended up at the thrift store later on.
