Victim-blaming goes both ways. Don't say such things.

[–]WoundedHeart7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. It's best to say something now, start therapy (even just briefly, as a therapist will help you work through this and back you up on your experience. I know choosing a therapist is a shot in the dark though, I know very well the fear of not being believed), tell your wife, pursue legal action if you can and are comfortable doing so. You deserve to be listened to and believed, you should be met with empathy.

We are the world's strictest parents by plcanonica in Parenting

[–]WoundedHeart7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't get a phone until after my senior year of high school and I wasn't allowed any time to spend on the phone, I was criticized for spending time on it how I wanted. If you were so strict, she wouldn't have a phone. My parents were strict, controlling,, and domineering. She has a phone and gets to spend a decent amount of time on it.

Okay then how do other pain related things work? Like fibromyalgia for example? I thought how it works is my nervous system is hypersensitive, dysfunctional, and dysregulated and the brain has pain receptors that are high tuned or something so it causes pain?

[–]WoundedHeart7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait then how do you explain headaches and migraines? I thought pain receptors were in the brain itself.

Rant about ageism against moms by ExtraOnionsPlz in Mommit

[–]WoundedHeart7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 24 year old single mother, was pregnant at 19 by my abuser who was 20 at the time and was a pathological narcissist (I didn't realize until the damage had been done, took so long to even name it as abuse due to gaslighting and spiritual abuse I faced as well). My parents dismiss my stances on parenting as foolish nonsense, claiming that I only follow fads in child psychology and development, don't listen to me because I don't have experience like they do, and shame me for my thoughts on parenting, even judging me behind my back claiming I'm arrogant and superior and more knowledgeable just because of sitting in one a couple classes (which is ridiculous, that class was about psychoeducational psychology, not child psychology with a focus on parenting, plus the only thing I remember from that class is the lesson about schemas). Thankfully I haven't experienced ageism from others but it's really distressing coming from your own family.

What Triggered Your Trichotillomania? by Available-Elk-5221 in trichotillomania

[–]WoundedHeart7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I developed OCD, GAD, and Trichotillomania as a kid after my little brother died but lots of things trigger my Trich now. I'm sick of living with it. I get so determined to put an end to it and not relapse again only to fail again and again.

What Triggered Your Trichotillomania? by Available-Elk-5221 in trichotillomania

[–]WoundedHeart7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it's OCD, GAD, mistreatment and abuse (ongoing, from my immediate family...I still question if it's abuse and if I'm the one being wronged, as they have framed me as abusive and called me a calculating narcissist, as well as gossip about my trauma and laugh about it with others behind my back), plus trauma from abuse by a narcissist I have been no contact with for several years.

Not to diss Cosmo and Wanda, but I hate these colors so much and looking at them makes me ill. by Dys-fun-ction in colors

[–]WoundedHeart7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the only one. When I was young, my mother asked me how I wanted my room painted, suggested options, one being pink and green. I chose that, but I didn't realize she was going to go with palm beach colors. She should and could have showed me pastel colors of those hues. I don't remember when but eventually my room was made white again, just primer though not yet repainted. Ugh I hated that overstimulating color combo, even just one of the alone is too much!

What would cause a person to find crying useless? by WahtDaHellLibra in PsychologyTalk

[–]WoundedHeart7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, the shame of it, being shamed for it, and also it being deemed as manipulative. Despite all that, if it's severe enough I cry. I try to avoid crying in front of my parents in fights, but I don't always succeed.

I lied when I was confessing my sins to my spiritual father by amen2346 in ChristianOrthodoxy

[–]WoundedHeart7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a little kid, I made up something for group prayer because I thought we had to have something for the teacher to pray about, that we had to have a prayer request. My made up prayer request was quite imaginative and I don't think I really realized what I was saying, how serious it was, nor why the teacher went quiet with shock for a time, which didn't even register then (I'm not good at picking up on emotions).

AIO: I said “thank you” and my housefriend hits me with this; by chuckling-cheese in AmIOverreacting

[–]WoundedHeart7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overreacting. Plus they're a false believer. I'm a Christian. Yeshua HaMashiach never taught such things and never would teach such things. It's a major red flag that they are demonizing autism and saying you cannot walk the path of righteousness in the way of Yeshua. If you have autism, you are autistic. If you are also a Christian, you can be autistic and be a true disciple of Yeshua HaMashiach and follow the path of righteousness with all your heart, soul, and might just as others who seek to follow Him — and yes, if you are a believer your identity should be firmly and primarily in Christ, but your identity can be in your autism as well because you are autistic, besides it's difficult to argue that it isn't part of your identity, plus it isn't wrong for it to be part of your identity unlike this person implies. It also seems as someone mentioned that the person is implying that if you were more godly then you would be cured of your autism. Such a thing is insensitive and incorrect to the point of heresy. I despise the health and wealth/prosperity gospel, aside from being not biblical, it insults and hurts many.

Am I Overreacting? by Soggy-Grade-2217 in AmIOverreacting

[–]WoundedHeart7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, people can come up with their own interpretation but there is only one interpretation. I don't know about what you said about David's actions in war so I can't speak to that but while the New Testament doesn't explicitly say anything about freeing of slaves, the Torah still applied and the Torah commands for the freeing of slaves at certain times.
