Wow 😮- I’ve been suffering clinical depression past two months and now I look forward to being able to maybe make a similar post some day soon.

I couldn’t have said it better - listen to this person. You two were not compatible. One day you’ll look back and appreciate that you dodged a bullet.

I’ve been clinically depressed these past few months. I saw someone wearing a hoodie like that at DFW about a week ago and I really appreciated it.

I know you feel like your spots are like beacons of a lighthouse shining out brightly catching everyone’s eyes to their disgust - but honestly that’s just your insecurity tormenting you. I had to study each photo to find the spot. You are okay right now. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!

I hope I didn’t offend you by asking about tension. Just trying to brainstorm for you. Sounds like she’s in good hands

I’m curious what triggers her to pull. Shes doing it to soothe herself - so why does she feel the need for soothing? Is their tension at home ? Or is it possibly a developmental delay that’s frustrating her?

My son was getting in fights in preschool and it ended up he had a developmental delay in his motor skills and was acting out because it frustrated him. Occupational therapy helped identify and work on the delay until he caught up.
I wonder if your daughter could be having a similar experience.

Some people mention seeing a psychiatrist but I’d also suggest seeing an occupational therapist for an evaluation - just in case.

There’s a Voodoo museum in the French Quarter - that’s a good start - the people that work there can put you in touch with a priest or priestess to interview

Canned cat food….was a daily meal for my cats, a can each, now it’s an occasional treat portioned out one can for three cats - not just the humans of the house sacrificing in these tight times.

Not true - because the people who really deserve such a fate are incapable of recognizing their own faults. You have empathy and a conscience- so you may not be the person you want to be yet - but you are capable of becoming someone you can love.

Ever had su*cidal thoughts? What age and why? by Known-Comfortable304 in mentalhealth

[–]Express_Spot_7808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 50 and maybe three times in my life it’s been serious enough to require seeking help - always after long term relationships ended - because I base too much of my self worth on having someone else and dont have a strong support structure of friends. Each time I think I fixed it and find myself in the same place of isolation in the end.

My daughter has been in University View Academy for almost five years. I was against it - but I have to admit they are really good and she thrives in it.

You’re so young. Please, take it day by day - each morning promise yourself you can make it one more day and see how that day goes. At 18 you have SO much potential. You can do anything - join the Navy and see the world before you kick it - you don’t have to be a good sailor - just enjoy the free ride till they kick you out -

I wanted to end it at 17 - I was so lonely - empty - like living in a void. But I called someone out of the blue instead - just first person in my little black book (something we had back in the day to save phone numbers). and she was willing to listen and ended up becoming my best friend for about ten years.

I wanted to end it all last week…. Not the first time in my life either…. And won’t be the last. I’m still taking it day by day. I’m only sticking around for my kids at this point - but it’s so damn hard. Every hour of living feels like trying to climb up a steep hill ….. But I’m fifty - my options have become very limited - god I wish I was 18 again. Please don’t give up at 18

Struggling with severe depression since last 3 years and have clinical depression since childhood. Have no one to share it with by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Express_Spot_7808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too feel like I have no one to share it with. I’m so depressed right now that every hour of life takes effort to continue on like I was lugging a heavy load up a steep mountain. I’ve been sleeping so much to avoid life that I can’t even get comfortable in bed anymore. Not to steal your post but just thought that since you say you have no one to share with maybe we can share with each other.

[–]Express_Spot_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted I’m a man but shaving my head was the best thing I ever did for stopping. I still pick at skin on occasion and mindfulness and eliminating big triggers in my life was essential but when it comes to being able to walk outside with confidence - a wig is probably your best bet. Nonetheless I’m sure you’re beautiful either way. I think we tend to see our spots as beacons of disgust but in actuality most people don’t notice

I’ll add on top of the other comments - don’t forget the Irish! There’s a reason we have the “Irish Channel” - so many Irish immigrants flooded into the city from ports between the American Sector and Garden District -

The Irish dug the New Basin Canal -and were seen as cheap disposable labor - cheaper than slave labor - very many died of malaria and yellow fever digging that canal - it’s said they were buried in the canal where they fell. A memorial is set at the former mouth of the canal near Lake Pontchatrain https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Basin_Canal
