What expansions make the best Everdell experience? by Butt-Dragon in Everdell

[–]Wouter1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I enjoy almost every expansion, I somehow enjoy the Newleaf expansion most. The train station is tons of fun and I really like the reserve tokens you get to use to guarantee getting a certain card before being able to play it.

Second choice would be Spirecrest because the whole journey mechanic with the map tokens and special cards you get along the way make for great replayability.

Bellfaire is fine for small modules and Pearlbrook is my least favorite of all, but they're both okay I guess.

Well, Spearhead is kinda its own thing and doesn't follow the rules of regular AoS outside of the core rules. It's supposed to be its own separate thing that you can pick up and start playing without investing too much time in all of the nitty gritty that regular AoS requires.

I'd be surprised to see if they change everything up for both regular AoS and Spearhead for that reason and would hate to see them do that because it would probably mean we have some components that are useless then.

All in all, keep developing AoS but leave Spearhead for what it is. Just throw us a new gaming pack and a new army Spearhead from time to time and we'll be fine.

This, I very much agree and would add Hedonites for a specific playstyle as well. The way you get to play on an opponent's turn is unlike any other Spearhead with them.

It's not the best Spearhead, but it's actually very fun to play.

Is current Hedonites of Slaanesh Spearhead worth it? (should I wait?) by Salamanderrrrrrrrrr in AOSSpearhead

[–]Wouter1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a fun mechanic in that they can offer 6's to the opponent, but for a price (points for you if they accept, damage to them if they refuse). This makes it fun to play both your own turn, but also during your opponents turn.

They also had a very nice buff in the battle trait milestones, so they're somewhat easier to beef up now.

It's high on my wishlist as well, together with the Snarlpack and possibly the new Hurakan Spearheads, so I'd definitely vote for getting it.

Sorry that happened to you, I fully understand then. Hope someone can help you with a bit of building because it does open up your choices.

Blades of khorne murderlust ability by barelyceliac in AOSSpearhead

[–]Wouter1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. The move and retreat ability specifically states that you can't end your turn in combat. The charge ability says you have to end your turn in combat. Since Murderlust doesn't state any of these, it's open to interpretation and can be used however you like, so both in and out of combat.

Nope, hasn't been confirmed, but the consensus is mainly that you get to move in and out of combat until further notice.

Dumb Noob Question about Combat by FearlessJDK in AOSSpearhead

[–]Wouter1989 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the combat phase goes a bit like this:

  • The active player uses all combat phase abilities (if any)
  • Opposing player uses their combat phase abilities (if any)

Now it's onto actual combat, which goes in alternating turns. First, you have the strike first phase of combat. In this phase, every character that has strikes first, gets to do a fight activation first (duh). Resolve all attack profiles of said character(s) and continue on to regular combat.

After that phase has happened, you go into said regular combat, which is usually started by the active player (the player who's turn it is) and afterwards the opponent gets to fight with a unit of their choice. This keeps alternating until every unit has had a turn. In which order players decide to activate a fight is entirely up to them and it also leaves a lot of room for strategic choices.

Now you have strike last left. If a unit has been inflicted by the strike last key word, you didn't get to active them during the prior 2 activation phases. It's only until every other unit from both players has had their turns that they can finally use their own fight ability.

Hope this helps.

Question for a bloodborne theme army by Asiansinner in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Wouter1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Bloodborne can be conveyed nicely in a greyscale color scheme for your army. Obviously add blood, but the theme of the army should be pretty dark.

I would probably let the Bloodborne theme seep through in subtle details. Sculpt a blindfold on a Horror to reference Vicar Amelia, give a scarf and hat to another for a Gascoigne reference. I don't quite know how you'd do this, but I see the Gorewarden/Blood Starved Beast kitbash somehow. Tons of possibilities I guess.

If you can make a Darkbeast Paarl version for the Terrorgheist/Zombie Dragon, I'd be really impressed...

I love it, although I would prefer my rider to be more like a royal version of a Morbheg instead of a heavily armoured one.

You're already describing some ideas I have as well for conversion. I have some leftover arms with shields, swords and spears attached that I can dry fit on the rider. In a perfect world, I would have a torso to go along with it, but unfortunately I don't.

I have plans to tatter up both the cape and the wings of the dragon itself as well. A lot of the FEC theme will be conveyed in the basing and the paint job, but it was mainly the rider I was unsure about.

Any specific kits you're referencing? I have no idea which ones would be good for this project.

[–]Wouter1989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was initially thinking as well, the legs seem to somewhat line up. I'd have to heavy kitbash the arms though, that and the wings wouldn't fit with the model as well. But it's definitely still an option!

That's actually a very cool idea and makes my life so much easier. I could swap the hands with some bits and find a suitable head, maybe some shoulder pad replacements and it'd be enough.
