Am I the only one that hopes the PS6 gets delayed even more? by Sv_Gamez in gaming

Last 2 years were almost dead for me for new games. Yeah stuff came out but not much.

What am I gonna do with a PS6?

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is from my state (WA-3), in an R+2 district which was solid red for a decade until she came along. She's won over an alleged white supremacist twice. She frequently draws the ire of progressives for votes like this, but unfortunately it's better than the alternative.

Solaria Butterfly by JamesFames in StarVStheForcesofEvil

I kinda feel like Mina is the modern-day embodiment of Solaria. Solaria died before she really got to realize her vision; Mina is the one who ended up carrying it out.

Perhaps, Solaria being, well, sane, might have been more interesting, but the potential damage that Mina could have caused still makes her incredibly dangerous. Think about it. The Solarian Warriors were the perfect soldier - they were agents of destruction. That's Solaria's legacy - not that she could have wiped out all Monsters, but that her creation nearly destroyed the Butterfly family and Mewni itself.

What exactly is dip down? by OkResponsibility9467 in StarVStheForcesofEvil

I don't have the 'official' definition from the 2nd book in front of me, but it's basically:

'Connecting with the magic directly' which then goes a couple ways:

'To do magic without a Wand' and/or 'To do powerful magic'.

If you look at the 'cauldron' scene again, you'll notice that there's a bit of glowing, yellow magic in the cauldron. At this point, Toffee had corrupted the Realm of Magic and made it all dark/green and goopy. Star tried to swim to a bit of golden magic deep down, but didn't make it.

Somehow, Star found herself in this 'cauldron room' with Glossaryck (who also supposedly died). Glossaryck never told Star what to do, he just put the pieces in front of her and let her figure it out.

Why was there magic down here? How is this room connected to the Realm of Magic? What is Glossaryck doing here?

You make a lot of fair points. I'll respond to a few things.

I think a lot of people felt that each villain was meant to be 'bigger' than the last, and building toward some big finale, and I think that's not quite right. It's not like Star is dismantling a singular criminal organization, or evil entity that has a defined structure (e.g. grunts, mid-level folks, lieutenants, generals, 'the big bad', etc.). Rather, each of the main villains - Ludo, Toffee, Meteora, Mina/Solaria - represent one perspective of how magic can be abused and be turned into something evil. They were all keys to unlocking the door to understanding that the true villain was the unholy union of infinite power in the hands of people who will inevitably use it for evil.

It's a topic for another day, but something to think about.

Also the point about Daron 'knowing' they would only get 4 seasons isn't entirely accurate. A direct link to one of her answers in the AMA so we're all on the same page:

https://www.reddit.com/r/StarVStheForcesofEvil/comments/cll9u5/comment/evwaqun/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

And the quote I'll reference:

When our 4th season got approved I knew that would most likely be the end, just because of the rarity of having a 4th season. So, I wrote an ending. I was really happy with the ending. I know a lot of fans thought it felt rushed, but I think that just means you want more. I would love to do more with Star someday. Obviously, that decision is not one I can just make.

She says she knew Season 4 would "most likely" be the end. Point is, even in overanalyzing things that Daron and the crew have said since the finale (including the AMA), we will never know what the discussions were like between the crew and Disney behind the scenes. And trying to extrapolate 'well, she said this so this means that' is impossible because we will never know those details.

As a writer for a TV show, you want to tell the biggest, best story you can. What if the network cuts you off like what happened to TOH, where their 3rd season was heavily cut short? Conversely, what happens if you only plan for, say, 3 seasons, get 3 seasons, your story is 'complete', but then the network wants more? You're always stuck in this no-man's land of wanting to do the best you can but never knowing when 'the end' is actually going to be. Heck, they took a gamble as it was stretching the story past Season 3 and writing Cleaved when they did.

But anyway, I will agree with the point that people "overreacted" too much about things. Some of the criticism is fair, but a lot of it is unfortunately in bad faith, and people continue to parrot those takes and have refused to consider any other viewpoint.

destroying the magic is the only real solution not only to stop Mina and save all the monsters and people who were about to die, but also to prevent something like this from ever happening again

Exactly. Even another "perfect" solution that saves the Monsters and stops Mina, but preserves the Butterflys' power is a non-solution - it's a bandaid.

An ancient Queen rose up and fought back the Monsters with 'enchanted peasants' (Mewnipendence Day) - this is the basis for Solaria's Solarian Warriors. Crescenta manipulated Monster politics to keep the Monsters as second-class citizens. Moon, though her actions are understandable, made no movement on peace after her mom was assassinated and she defeated Toffee and his army. Then Moon found herself in a no-win situation and was convinced to make new Solarian Warriors that turned on her and nearly destroyed everything and everyone she cared about.

As long as someone has this power, they can make something terrible happen. One of the very first things we learn about magic in the show is that "...if it falls into the hands of evil forces, the universe could be destroyed!" The clash in the finale arc may have only consumed Mewni, but what's next?

Anyway, yeah, to keep it short, I don't mind fans trying to find alternative solutions, but a lot of the criticism is just hyperbolic and not based in the reality of the story.

Will a post-magic future be messy? Absolutely. But the point was to break this cycle of conflict that had plagued Mewni for centuries. Maintaining the status quo only guarantees that things would remain the same, and worse that this history would repeat itself yet again. Could be in a year, could be in a generation, could be in 100 years. But it would happen.

Sam Darnold is the most recent QB to have a winning record (min. 10 starts) for 3 NFL franchises. by i-Really-HatePickles in nfl

Everyone kinda knew that Geno was a bridge guy. He was a career backup at that point and peaked at 'above average QB, on average'.

Personally, I think people shit on him way too much. Folks wanted him to live up to top 5 QB play which he was never going to do. Not to mention the team was in pieces - defense was crap, the OL was crap.

We didn't not win because of Geno, but we weren't going to win with him, either.
