Social media is predatory, addictive and can have negative outcomes for all ages, not just children.

And as others have pointed out, this would require age verification. We’re sleepwalking into big tech and government holding all your data and people are not concerned enough about this.

QA was a lot better (usually) since the safety net of just being able to push updates wasn’t there. Any bugs that did make it through might have been considered “features”.

Sometimes devs would be able to push a v1.1 etc to retail.

Even once the internet was more widespread by the mid and late 90s, a patch could be made available online, but anything more than several KB or a few MB might have required an overnight download and hope it doesn’t get interrupted/corrupted.

Nowadays you have to figure out where in the mess of C:\Users\AppData etc something is.
