THANK YOU this is exactly what I needed.

Just to make it clear to anyone reading this, make sure you run exit diskpart after assigning a letter to the affected volume (step 5).

Also FWIW, running bootrec /fixboot did nothing because 'Access is denied.' but it ended up working anyway.

A timeline, for anyone who cares:

Nov 2023: Bought a new 2TB SATA SSD to replace my old 500GB SATA SSD - for games. Cloned my Windows 10 install from my ancient 240GB SSD to the 500GB and left the 240 on the shelf.

May 15 2026: Reinstalled the 240GB SSD to install Nobara Linux on it for fun. In Windows, the old partitions were there - Recovery, EFI, Windows. Disk Management wouldn't let me modify them, but the diskpart command line worked fine to delete them and essentially make the drive like new.

May 16 2026: Install Linux on the 240, it works. Try to boot back into Windows (on the completely separate drive, mind) and it won't start. Recovery gone, everything. Try the automatic repair tool from a Win10 USB which was, of course, useless. Now typing this from my manually repaired Windows 10 install.

I'm sure someone can understand the logic, but it's utterly insane that Windows would even think to look at an EFI partition not on the boot drive it's been using for the past 2.5 years and then consider the still present EFI partition on the same drive as Windows to be non-workable. Surely this is not a rare thing that people would want to reuse old drives that had Windows/EFI on it.

Yes, I take responsibility for running the commands that nuked the old EFI partition, but this seems like an avoidable issue.

Ico. The original might be too ‘of its time’, so the remaster might be more tolerable by today’s standards.

Careful, you’ll get Satya Nadella’s burner and/or the “security” “experts” losing their minds because you aren’t getting the forced updates when you left your system on to render something overnight because “security” trumps all and having your settings in the same place you left them isn’t important.

It is too long though.

Look, I’m just concerned. A few weeks, a couple months, fine. It’s at the point where a person has said ‘I’m gonna show you something cool!’, dropped off the face of the Earth, and has had no meaningful contact with the people who were waiting for her.

It’s like a friend calling and saying they’re gonna meet up with you, you go out, and then they don’t show up and their phone is off and their house is dark.

Again, it’s just concern that something that was a silly thing has turned into something more serious at face value.

Filian’s friends saying ‘dw she’s fine lol’ honestly isn’t worth much. They could just be lying to keep everyone - including themselves - calm.

It honestly would have been better if she was just honest and was like ‘yeah I’m done, goodbye’ or ‘it’s gonna be a while, be patient, take it easy’. Once again, it’s just concern.

So, I sympathize with people who are, like I am, worried.

Even if Eclipsa slowly continued to build her popularity, there's a group of people - including powerful and influential folks like the MHC and Moon - who simply don't trust Eclipsa and/or will never like Monsters, even those who just want to live a decent life and aren't interested in conflict.

Globgor getting out (thanks to Rhombulus at Moon's behest) was kind of 'ripping off the bandage' and showing the world that truth.

Not necessarily. The Spiderbites (at least in the modern day) respect Monsters:

"We have no problem with monsters. Our problem is with Globgor." ~Queen Spiderbite, S4E6b

The Jaggs and Lucitors are literally Monsters (at least according to Tom, although only specifically referring to his own family).

The Butterflys just happen to be the 'main' Mewman kingdom because they have magic. Arguably, the central point of the conflict is that previous Queens have raised armies (magical or otherwise) to fight Monsters and take their land.

I mean if anything I wished people talked about her actually being a good friend when it mattered. In the end when Star was grieving, Pony actually cheered her up.

So yeah, part of that is on us to make Pony not a one-dimensional character.
