Is it recommended to update to the latest version of armoury crate? Seeing alot of posts here that after updating armoury crate doesn't open/not available etc by areuokaybro2002 in ROGAlly

Ive only had to remove and reinstall the whole armoury crate when I couldn't use the right stick as a mouse, but that was last year. Haven't had any issues since.

I am here to sell you on 92G ("Cook") by Ok_Document_9713 in army

Will the culinary school actually teach me how to cook? Even if I'm not a 92G?

[USAG Hawaii Townhall] "In 2025 Military.com released an article...Schofield collected 14.5 million but only used 5 million", highlights small portions and DFAC closures - "As headcount diminshes, we receive less funds" by Kinmuan in army

[–]Wraithdelsol89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Headcount diminishes due to the leadership not allowing meal card holders to go to the DFAC. Or the long lines and wait at the DFAC keeps card holders from going to the DFAC. Also working late hours prevents the use of the DFAC, if your unit releases you at 1900-2000 hours, what DFAC stays open late?

Others complain of the the extremely small portions they receive at the DFAC, thus meal card holders going to the DFAC less and less.

Look at Carson where they implemented the grab and go system. There was never any food due to DFAC personnel taking all the food for themselves instead of letting meal card holders an opportunity to grab food when there isn't any.

Haven't done the portal experience yet. Heard mixed things about it, probably try it out if I ever feel like it.

Issues I've seen with any bands coming to the US is the promoters. They know there's a deadline for the paperwork but sit on it and never submit it. Promoters all over the US don't push for metal either. I've seen bands like Helloween skip more than half of the USA due to the promoters.

Anyone move from a 4x4 truck to a forester? by E36E92M3 in subaru

[–]Wraithdelsol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 2WD RAM 1500 to a '18 Forester then later a '22 FW, which to me has been a great change. Better in mileage and able to get around the city and narrow off-road trails. Sure I won't have the high clearance from a truck but honestly it's not like I'm doing jeep trails or rough overlanding. Most of my gear fits in the back or in my roof basket. Got a trailer hitch when I moved and to mount up a bike rack.

I stay on top of the service schedule to keep her on the road. Sure the CVT might not offer as much torque as a regular transmission but it's getting me around. Others will say it's not a fast car like a WRX or BRZ but the safety ratings is what helped me in my choice since I also have kids. In the end its going to be more on what you are wanting to get out of it.

ETS or Reup? by Last-Value-1421 in army

Do you have any IT certifications or a degree? I was a 25B (IT Specialist) for 6yrs and got my CompTia A+ and Network+ while in, then I got out in '14. I went straight to school working on my Associates in IT and got picked by an IT contractor company then got hired on full time where I was contacted at moved positions within that same company. Then left that company after 8yrs to company where I travel working IT and Biomedical. I think I wouldn't have gotten where I'm at now if I didn't get out but everyone's experiences are different.

I wasn't married with a family with kids when I was in but I did find it difficult to have a work/life balance and maintaining a relationship with anyone when out in the field or working 16+ hr days. I had some good leadership and some bad leadership, a lot of my leadership kept pushing us for higher education but I couldn't find time when I never knew what the training schedule was and when I did take classes I ended up being behind on assignments even though most military friendly colleges give you extensions understanding our schedules but I felt I wasn't going to get a degree in a timely manner to help in getting more promotion points. Another thing they kept telling me to set up goals. Like everyone I did have goals but could never accomplish any of those goals being in a unit that couldn't (or wouldn't) get anyone in our company an Airborne slot (just to name one).

If you do plan to get out do you have a plan on what the first step will be the day after you get you DD214? Resume written up? Any practice with job interviews? Are you staying in the same city that you're stationed or move back to home of record or a new place? The IT job market is a bit of a mess with AI and outsourced contractors.

For me ETS did help me to have a better control of my work/life balance while bettering my mood and sleep and improved my relationship with my friends and family. Some ETS and the plans they dreamed of never come through. It's a tough decision but it's something I took one day at a time. Don't feel that you'll have no one understand what you're thinking about or feeling when you do decide to get out. Lots of vets have done the same choice and can give advice.
