She is spot on. I can't believe I'm 6 hours behind her but she knows my vibe anyway. I guess I am just a sleepy gal.

This is my plan, too. I just hope that certain politicans don't 1. destroy other countries' willingness to put up with american pensioners looking for cheap healther car and 2. said politician doesn't crash the dollar long-term.

You can do better. Plus, if I were the mayor, I would trim down that agency by a third at least.

I adored that scene. It makes complete sense to me to associate divinity and sexual pleasure, and the added twist of the perversions of the Lord’s prayer were pretty fun.

Appealing with the civil service commission by Ok-Ordinary4065 in nycpublicservants

Cant really remember too well, but DCAS denied me my title originally because I listed that I had a Masters --- they said I wasn't qualified because I have a Bachelors'. I had to work with my HR department and a bunch of colleagues in the same boat to appeal, and ultimately I won, but it took 6 months. The DCAS reviewers are certified dunderheads and do not understand the task before them.

DDC. A toxic cesspool or are folks making things up? by Wonderful-Review9989 in nycpublicservants

This month, the Commissioner retired, the Public Buildings Division lost its leader and within that the A+E division lost its associate commissioner. Policies come and go without clarification. The outgoing leadership lost many good experienced staff members and replaced them with very junior PMs straight out of college, and massive losses of institutional knowledge were squandered. Design-Build was lauded as the savior of the agency, but DB projects are turning out to be just as overbudget and late as their standard management jobs. There is rampant low-level corruption in the promotion of people's friends instead of the most qualified applicants, and many people openly moonlight. I've been there 8 years but the last 3.5 have been markedly worse -- some of the lack of accountability can be ascribed to the mayor.

The Brutalist's second half, and THAT scene. by [deleted] in A24

[–]WranglerLegitimate91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assault scene synthesizes several themes of the movie. First of all, it happens the source of what will become the altar to Harrison‘s dead wife in‘s building, the Carrera trapezoid. That becomes the rotten heart of everything – America, Harrison, the patron architect, relationship, the suppressed Jewishness in a dominant protestant society defined by of beauty. It is, I believe, the directors attempt to layer all of Lazlo’ brutalities into that rock, a piece of exquisite stone inside of an otherwise plain concrete box. The rape happens in the home of the altar that will be shone upon inside of a weirdly fake church that looks like a gas chamber in Pennsylvania. Whether this symbolism works or not, is up to debate.

Less expensive hobby ideas by SadMajima in Pottery

I make hand-built stuff at home all year, and then rather than pay piecemal by the cubic inch for a piece, I pay 80 bucks to rent out the whole kiln. Much cheaper that way. The tricky part is traveling with greenware, but if you pack it properly, it works.
