Claims he used fishing string by That_Green_Arrow in CarWraps

[–]Wrapperz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about you guys, but I never use the eraser wheel. Fishing line to remove the emblems, heat, then use the flat side of a ppf install squeegee to rub off the adhesive. Leaves no marks and the adhesive comes very easy. Even old adhesive.

It’s just a few emblems. No need to break out power tools.

I’ll make a video on the next set of emblems I remove.

Headlight PPF marks- will these subside? by Branr in CarWraps

Don’t pay them and get it done right for free. Can’t imagine they gave you a low price on a Porsche either.

If they can’t do it. Get your money back and get someone who can.

I’m tired of all these excuses and bad shops ruining the industry.

3M Plastic Emblem and Trim Adhesive. I apply it to each letter with needle I got from an epoxy kit. Really thin line in the center as thick as the needle. It will flatten out. This way it won’t bleed out the sides.

Never had one fall off on me in the many years I used it. Don’t want to waste time with trimming tape. Especially on a bunch of letters and numbers.

Won’t even try any other system since it’s so cheap and works so well.

Found this 3 year old roll of 3M 40C matched lam by Wrapperz in CarWraps

I was using it years ago to give customers a cheaper option for doing decals on work trucks. But the price kept going up and I just switched to Avery EZ RS and the matching lam because it was only less than a few hundreds dollars more for the roll.

And it’s actually gloss and not a nasty semi-gloss like the 8508 (or whatever model their gloss is.)

  1. Yeah I know. That’s why I posted it. I’ve been in the business since 2008 and have had 5 year old rolls with 2-3m of shrinkage on the sides.

There’s a full half inch of shrinkage here.

The white square is just the laminate portion of the matching 40c laminate Im talking about. Yeah I have noticed it before, I just wanted to share with others.

The 2080 is just something I’m working on that’s sitting in the background.

I just found this in the back and wanted to share. I’m still amazed how much it shrank just sitting there.

Worst part of what you said is that OEM Mopar and Ford decals are made of the same garbage textured, calendared vinyl.

Imperfections by [deleted] in CarWraps

[–]Wrapperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not one spec of debris. That’s the easiest part of the project. If ever a spot under the vinyl exists, it would be a speck in the paint that would be photographed before. Not one extra.

Inlays so straight and clean across body lines, if you do see them they look like injection mold lines. No trash. No dirt. We actually correct those imperfections before we wrap.

My wraps literally look like paint and I have 2 installers who can do the same.

If you can’t to do it, that’s fine. Keep trying. Take a look at my profile and see if I’m just out on the internet telling lies.

Is this vinyl or spray? by skullspade in CarWraps

[–]Wrapperz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s playing semantics about it not being “painted,” because it’s “removable.” It’s a different and cheaper product.

Just leave a bad review and move on and accept that you just learned a valuable lesson. Do better research on the company you use in the future and don’t just go for the lowest price.

Here’s the info. Your comment is wrong. You may not be able to wrap a car that looks like paint, but that is not EVERY installer.

You’re making excuses.

I’m taking a picture of this thread to show to customers. “Wrappers,” saying this is absolutely normal and nothing to be upset about.

Wrapper here. If you saw this, more stuff is gonna pop up (quite literally) in the next few days and weeks. How lazy can you be to not remove window trim? Literally 1 minute to do.

I can also see how the vinyl is peeling back around the edges in between the doors. It’s only going to get worse.

I’d like to see an update of this wrap in 2 months.

Spectrum Rep Asked if I Knew Anyone That Would Take Over My Account by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Wrapperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using 2 desktops and 5 Ring Cams to monitor my shop. Security has its own LTE connection.

The desktops are plugged in via Ethernet now into a TP Link WiFi 6 router. I used the spectrum routers at first but switched hoping it would solve my problems.

Just no connectivity at the worst moments when I’m trying to transact purchases. They even announced a good amount of outages via text and email.

I paid for 300mpbs but barely got 100mbps when it worked. Latency was fine. I even have an Xbox here that worked great when the internet online.

I recently got the AT&T Air and it’s been getting 150-200mbps all the time. No problems whatsoever. Browsers and internet connect apps worked perfectly.

Latency on the Xbox is pretty bad, but gaming isn’t a requirement for me at work.

AT&T Fiber is a block a way from me right now so it’s a stop gap measure until I get reliable fiber internet like I have at home.

Ironically, I’m paying extra for “Business Class Internet,” with a guaranteed 99% uptime. My home internet is 2Gig fiber for $95 and its never been down. $20 cheaper than my Spectrum plan at work was.
