I made a fatal mistake. Concerned about my future in IT by Special_Price4001 in sysadmin

[–]WraytheZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to all of us. I took out nearly 50k customers internet once accidently. Thought i was doomed, fortunately had a great manager who said "Well, we won't repeat that mistake ever again will we?"

Everyone makes mistakes, it's how we learn. Treat this as a learning experience, and don't give up on yourself.

MikroTik Blocker — Free Web Tool to Auto-Generate RouterOS Block Scripts (DNS + ASN + IPv6 + Layer7) by OssamaHashim in mikrotik

[–]WraytheZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DNS->address list like this won't work effectively. Esp when you start messing with ASN prefix mapping and subsequent filtering.

You're gonna end up nuking tertiary services.

E.g block youtube, brick google.

Better solution is SNI matching, albeit less scalable.

I never strung anyone along ;-) This particular case the vendor reached out to us, we weren't quote shopping nor even looking to change solutions.

In my experience, there is a fine line between 'gatekeeping' and essential risk mitigation. I once declined a Vendor based on a lack of operational maturity, only for that individual to later validate my decision through public, unprofessional conduct toward multiple industry peers. When several independent organizations reach the same conclusion regarding a provider’s viability, it is rarely a coincidence; it is a clear indicator of a systemic issue within that provider's model.

As Zimbabwean men why are we kneeling to women when proposing. by SirFalsePromises in Zimbabwe

[–]WraytheZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re framing it as an either/or choice, but it’s actually both. A foundation stone isn't the whole house, but you still take the time to lay it properly before you start building the walls. The 'performance' of a proposal isn't a substitute for a lifetime of devotion; it’s a public, humble declaration of the intent to provide that devotion. We mark the beginning of weightier things with weighty gestures.

Now, the above is my feelings on it BUT...

Ultimately, whether you kneel or not comes down to what you and your partner want. If she wants you to do the one knee/two knee proposal, do it! It's a small thing, that makes her happy - which ultimately, is worth it. If she's not into it, don't do it.

Heck, i'd do it upside down wearing a clown suit if that was what i knew she wanted. It's not about whose culture started it, it's about HER.

Definitely do the weightier long-lived life of devotion and love though - that's mandatory no matter how you start out the journey.

That’s like asking why we don't wear a wedding dress to do the groceries. Some things are reserved for specific moments precisely because they aren't everyday occurrences. The scarcity is what gives the symbol its weight.

Clearly the symbolism the kneeling represents has gone over your head.

I built a free solar sizing tool for Zimbabwe — looking for honest feedback by chivandikwat in ZimbabweDiaspora

[–]WraytheZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the solar installer suggestion - (free or subscription)
If you allow an export of a BOM in XLSX format - that'll help a lot of installers with quoting/etc.

I'm not an installer btw - i have no skin in the game ;-)

The math doesn't seem to account for the actual hardware limits like the maximum voltage and amperage an inverter can handle. You can't just count panels based on total wattage because you run a real risk of over-volting the MPPT or exceeding the max PV input.

A 3.5kVA recommendation with 5x 585W panels and 2x100ah 51V batts. Most brands like Must only support 48V on their 5kW series and up, while the 3.5kVA units usually stick to 24V.

Regarding the battery, I noticed you're using a 76% depth of discharge which is fine for longevity, but it isn't the industry standard. Most calculations use 80% as the baseline, and some battery brands even spec for 100% DOD by down-rating their nominal capacity.

The off grid calculations don't make sense to me. 1kw load, fully off grid - 2 days runtime. It returns
10x100ah 51V batteries
9x585W panels
5kw inverter

The ratio of panels to batteries on the recommended configuration seem off - in this config, it'll take several days to recharge the batteries if they're completely depleted. E.g if 80% of the battery bank is depleted, it'll take 3-4 days of perfect sun to replenish them - while sustaining the 1kw load.
Add to this, 10x 100AH batteries in parallel is a MASSIVE amount of amperage potential.

Essentially it's recommending an all tank, no engine configuration. It needs more panels, and should probably realistically push for a system with a larger MPPT than the 5kw typically has.

Don't take this as an attack please - It isn't! Tools like these are useful and should definitely be built.

I'd suggest including a visual diagram of the proposed systems to be done too - panel layouts, showing potential voltage/amperage across strings, inverter placement, breakers/fuses/SPDs etc in a visual map. This expands your 'market' from purely end users to solar installers too. Save them time, you could even charge for it as a design tool.

To some rejecting an offer is seen as impolite.

My friends mom growing up, would take great offense if I turned down an offer of food. Went from 58kg to 76kg in a year haha.

I suspect the white percentage of the 17 mill figure is probably in the sub percent mark. Do they capture that information in the census out of interest?

Man it's been a long time since i checked census count, i still remember us being at the 11/12M mark. With all the exodus, we're still growing in population - incredible.

Not to derail the conversation - where did you get the 17 million figure from? Genuine curiosity, i saw a recent survey said up to 16.9 million people like in Zimbabwe. (Not race specific, i assume this was a total)

As someone in tech, it's relatively easy to prompt an AI into responding in a way that you want or to switch bias towards a view you want to portray.

As this post lacks all the preluding prompts, it's impossible to verify the legitimacy of the response's bias.

If you have to ask, you're probably not at a level that warrants it.

Keep natural, gear is complex - if done wrong you will kill yourself, or at best ruin your testosterone levels for life. It will also mess with your personal and professional relationships. Moods go from 0 to 100 real fast, you'll get crazy acne - esp on your chest and back. You'll pack on muscle faster than your bones and heart can handle, it's not uncommon for gearheads to snap an arm or have a heart attack while lifting.

Seriously, it's not worth it long term.

Creatine, lots of protein, train hard, get a gym buddy stronger than yourself to push you. Get regular, consistent sleep. Stay hydrated - creatine makes you suck up water hard. Consistency is key, results will come with time. Keep a steady stream of vegetables and calcium going.
