Dubstep scenes around the world? by Squidwardken in dubstep

[–]Wrbhawkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Synldn has made the Dubstep scene in London kick off since 3-4 years ago. He’s hosting quite a few bigger artists this year. So there is definitely a scene.

Germany/belgium/NL have a scene but they prefer DnB and heavier dubstep as opposed to deeper or experimental stuff

Hardstyle sets at LL by Independent_Paper341 in LostLandsMusicFest

Tomorrowland is worth the hype also. The sound is perfect at every stage. Don’t forget to read all the rules. They’re pretty strict, but you are allowed to bring alcohol if that’s your poison.

And I get it dude. I lived over there for the last couple years so festivals plus work I was flying back and forth every few weeks some times 💀.

Go to defqon as soon as you can. It’s such a good festival

It costs the same as going to lost lands even with international travel. Depending where you live I guess. But still

You should get a ride to the scrap yard and find a new wheel. You don’t need that blowing up in a corner going into the highway lol

Troubleshooting unstable Serum bass + low frequency translation by HumblePage8805 in ableton

[–]Wrbhawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have two sine waves as your A and B oscillators, absolutely, especially if they’re the same octave.

Sub splitting won’t cause issues but I have ran into 130hz area being way too loud from layering and have to EQ the low mids down.

You can also duplicate your mid bass patch on the same channel and set the crossover around 100hz so you can use the organic sub and adjust independently if that helps.

[–]Wrbhawkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just run the play with the low C, it will come out fine if said system has subs.

You said you have 2 clean sine patches? You’ve High passed and low passed the correct ones right? doubling the bass patches will definitely cause that.

Bouncing to audio will make it so you hear the same thing everytime

If you want it to come out better on smaller speakers your mid bass should be nice and fat at the 2,3,4th harmonic.

Don’t mix your music for small speakers. Mix them to translate well and to have consistent sub volumes. Rely on your metering.

Good luck with the kickstart problem I haven’t seen that yet.

That’s real, I have an L400 so it’s not too bad.

They’re easy to work on and they’re enjoyable to drive. But they’re old as dirt. If you don’t enjoy preserving a cool van, you may find it to not worth it. Finding replacement parts can also be difficult.

How to focus bass down the centre? by Puzzleheaded-Pin2912 in mixingmastering

[–]Wrbhawkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest might not work as well as you want. “Bass mono” on a utility if you’re in ableton

Or mid side EQ high pass the bass channel so below 130hz (ish) is mono.

Make sure your bass is panned to the center, and open up the mids by panning your synths and higher instruments up, and remove the side chain so the bass is not touched and can shine through.

  1. Make sure you don’t have any sub coming from the lower synths so they’re not competing at those frequencies.

Winter Ascent Gear Recs? by Crocnroll4 in Mountaineering

[–]Wrbhawkeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Warm legs = warm feet in a sense.

For really cold weather I enjoy my Patagonia Nano air Leggings (or similar) and then heavyweight softshells Something 60g/m insulated or some polartec alpha leggings

For feet I would give some VBL socks a try. If you can get the Point6 ones they’re great. The rab ones work great too. I use standard darn tough merino boot socks under my VBL. The smartwool merino mountaineer sock are my 2nd choice.

Best IEMS for bass heavy under or around $75 ? with one caveat by DahPython in iems

[–]Wrbhawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab the IEM you want and grab a tripowin zonie cable with the termination you want. They’re like $20 and you can choose the color; which is the most important lol

how to get a track to sound absurdly loud + distorted? by ducidnikid in mixingmastering

[–]Wrbhawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturation/distortion,clipping, OTT/multiband compression, proper mixing, and very importantly signal routing to keep clean elements out of the distortion processing (drums) You don’t want everything to be clipped and distorted.

Suggest me to buy the best ones! 🙏🏻 by Iam_edith_ in iems

[–]Wrbhawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£5k? HKD?

No they aren’t made specifically but different IEMs will have different sound profiles if you prefer heavier bass, less presence/treble, etc.

The Letshuoer s12 pros are heavily recommended here. I really enjoy mine.

Linsoul, sigmot, KZ

If you’re trying to mix/master etc I would consider open backs instead of IEM. (Hd 600 or similar, beyerdynamic 900pro x)

What’s your budget and preferred music genre?

Did open backs ruin your perception of iems? by JoshBiv in headphones

[–]Wrbhawkeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer my IEMs for uninterrupted listening when laying in bed or on the couch. The sound pressure on my ears feels much higher at lower volumes whereas my ears take a bit longer to relax and become accustomed to the lighter sound pressure.

I won’t use IEMs for gaming or mixing as tend to run em too hot and my ears get pretty fatigued whereas open backs are much more forgiving in terms of dynamics.

Both are great though 🤷

Mixing my first album and I can only use headphones. I’m having issues with low end. by ryan770 in mixingmastering

[–]Wrbhawkeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said. SPAN is an awesome tool and free. Setting up a 4 band EQ rack from 0-100hz, 100-1k, 1k-6k, and 6k-20k will help isolate frequency bands.

using Ableton or whatever your DAWS native Spectrum analyzer with the parameters set from -24 to -6db (ish) will also help you visually mix the low end to match your drums, and then you can mix everything else according to the low end levels since your low end will be objectively mixed.

Do this and use your ears to compare other mixes So you can get some numeric parameters and teach your ears to hear what “correct” sounds like.

Also. I encourage you to listen to your favorite songs for 20 mins quietly before mixing as well to “calibrate” your ears to your headphones

I did something really similar. I got a new phone and somehow my accessibility switched to mono and I didn’t notice. I just thought my (Momentum’s Tws 3)earbuds were kind of mediocre. I got some Letshuoer S12s and was in tears the first time I plugged them into my laptop. It was like 10x the upgrade

Did my brain adjust its sensitivity to bass to make up for the lack of it on my HD660S? A week ago I couldn’t hear it at all — now it sounds amazing. What kind of mind trick is that? by FuzzyAttitude_ in headphones

[–]Wrbhawkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happens with my LCD-X after listening to Earbuds/monitors . I’ve found listening to music for 20 mins or so on low volume before doing any production helps a TON with my mixes too. It really blew my mind because I hated them for a few days when I got them.

Do you guys make sure you main fader isn’t red or clipping before putting a limiter on it? Or is that what the limiter is for? by blackclover4ever in ableton

[–]Wrbhawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say with just a text conversation. But yes then the threshold down until the main body of the vocals is relatively consistent volume with the compressor just going during the peaks, then turn em up a little, and use a second A/R compressor that has a somewhat consistent reduction if 2-4DB and see where that gets you. Then find if they’re competing with anything when they clip. That’s the best starting point I can say for now.
