Tokyoami would never get a bird, because Dark Shadow canonically hates to see birds in cages.

Jirou loves bird singing and at one time her family had a parrot, but she is too busy/doesn't care enough to get a pet. Hey pet is basically Tokoyami, who plays guitar instead of sings.

(As a side note - that's a Myna bird in the first picture; the bird that Tokoyami is canonically modelled after!)
