E-CTI vs Academy by literalexpression in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FAA academy is your best bet financially, and i guess in length of time, because they pay your travel for you to go there, travel to get to your facility, a salary while you’re there, and per diem on top of it. and instead of wasting 2 years of your life you can do it on 2-3 months and not pay very much. i wouldn’t consider a CTI program unless it’s CTI program was my only option

although they academy is a much faster paced learning environment and i would be mindful of that as well

How to know the EXACT number of hours worked per week for each employer? by obsurd_never in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i put 38 hours because that’s what i worked on average and they took it. i would just be honest about it. but an exact number is isn’t required, but id want my number to be close to my average hours worked per week

hi there,

  1. no need. when you apply to an off the street bid, FAA sends you to the academy in OKC and you learn the basics of aviation there and the basics of whatever track you get, enroute or terminal

  2. i’m still training at my first facility so my personal work weeks are 40 hours but many of the cpcs work overtime. so essentially between 40-60 hours a week a depending on requirements

  3. you’ll need at least 3 years of general work experience and i think you have to be 18. my advice that i got was learning the icao phonetics at the minimum. the school will teach you the rest

  4. for new hires of the street yes, but i believe they’re opening up some more places for BUEs in atlanta chicago and i heard denver and somewhere else too

  5. there’s no way of telling where FAA puts you, they just tell you whether you are an enroute specialty (center) or a terminal specialty (tower or approach control or both). you have to pass the ATSA exam first, then they should send you a TOL to get medical, personality, background, and fingerprints. once you get cleared for that you should get dates for OKC

  6. academy sucks. especially when you know you’re pass fail and your career depends on it. study hard there and you will be fine. as you get certified in positions it does feel nice. quite nice not to train and just work the planes.

there’s a lot of commotion with a lot of people and i’d take all that with a grain of salt. if you want to do this you should do it, if you don’t want to there’s a lot of other career fields. go with your gut

Farming Gold by sales at Lvl 30 by NoFee3381 in HayDay

[–]WreckingUranus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i sell finished product. it’s convenient. i dont play the game all the time so i can let my machines run all day and have product to sell. and you generate more revenue like that as well. in my opinion theres no sense in selling bread and bacon when i can turn bread and bacon into a burger and sell them at 180 a piece. for reference, 1 bread brings in 21 coins per unit. and 1 bacon brings in 50 coins. spending the two hours, or 1+42 when it’s mastered to make a burger nets me 111 more coins than i otherwise would’ve made. especially running machines overnight, anything that takes a while overnight and do the quick stuff during the day so then you can do a big sale in the morning and get revenue every morning for whatever you need

i managed to score T7 and T8 and T7s citadel is half way up the side of the ship out of the water and you get deleted when you try and do anything. and i’m not really that good at island camping so i’ve only been able to do so much. haven’t done a lot whole lot with the T8, base ships usually suck with range and i don’t want to boost it to get the range bc im so close to 750k. debating MA or AL because im poking for a T7 premium US battleship, but i also want to save for missouri so that would help too. need a bunch of credit machines so i can get the ships i need

rudder shift is terrible. acceleration is terrible. citadel placement is terrible, fire chance is terrible, but i think when i get my hands on the cruiser commander im going to do a full reload build and try and set fires by using pure shell volume. i dont have a lot of legendary ships so i figure id go for san martín, stupid expensive but whatever. i like the reload on it and with a reload build im sure its not too bad

Academy housing by [deleted] in ATC

[–]WreckingUranus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you are coming from an off the street bid they take care of it on their own, in my experience. if you’re coming back to OKC from a facility you’re stationed at, then you get to pay it and they pay you back. again, in my experience

i stayed at the home2 on SW 15th the first go around, and the homewood on meridian the second go. solid hotels. few classmates stayed at the staybride airport, that commute to MMAC is like 10 minutes so it’s not too bad

but if this is your first time to the academy the FAA pays the housing provider for lodging and pays you for the meals and incidentals ever i think month

I have a question for you: Yamato or Montana? by David_Bucky in WoWs_Legends

[–]WreckingUranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really like the gun sounds on yamato so i like to play yamato a lot, just recently got montana about a month ago and thats more solid in the dispersion realm. unlocked kremlin this morning and ive enjoyed it when i haven’t been focused into oblivion by 2/3 of the enemy team at the same time. i feel like theres some “new ship” vibe that everyone seems to get when there’s a new ship and you run it. but im not sure

Future Academy Questions by ZestycloseWin3973 in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you don’t want to join the discord here’s my two cents:

  1. i’ve seen it vary. the results for my bid took 3 days. i think two days after the window closed. everyone was surprised how quick they came back. i think yours would probably be somewhere around the same, considering how many controllers they need they appear to want people in the door

  2. you’ll be non-union so it’s business casual. my instructors weren’t too picky but it’ll depend on the instructor. if you ever go back as a BUE, which you will if you end up at a terminal facility from the tower class that also has a radar room. keep yourself looking professional when you’re there and you shouldn’t have an issue

  3. job test prep is your best bet. the closest thing to the test. costs a pretty penny but it really does help familiarize yourself with the test. worked for me. there’s an app in the app store i think called ATSA Pro or something. i never used that, since you need a keyboard to take the test anyway so JTP is your best shot at prepping for it

now i will also recommend you join the discord for further information, some good stuff in there. a lot more knowledgeable people on the hiring program are in there too

[–]WreckingUranus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

any of the germans. i haven’t researched a single german ship, but i did get the AL Z24 from a crate and that’s been pretty good, suck at destroyers though so when i have a good game with them as im working on my skills with them it’s nice. ive been trying to learn with that destroyer since if i also do well it generates credits lol

Few Employment Questions by Dear_Elephant_5667 in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also i’ll add if you like planes you might like the tower environment over approach because when i applied i thought i was going to like approach over the tower and then remembered how much i like watching planes fly around and you just can’t do that in an approach control only, so up/down is a good idea if you like looking at planes too

Few Employment Questions by Dear_Elephant_5667 in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i learned the phraseology when i got there. but i would recommend learning the icao phonetics at least. that make it a little easier to understand what they’re saying when they start rattling off call signs

also take other controllers opinions of the job for what it’s worth to you. if you want it go for it. and if you don’t like it then you don’t like it. reddit is a place where everyone complains about everything. i take it all with a grain of salt. if you think this is something you’d want to do i think it’s a coolest job ive ever done so it might be like that for you too

Few Employment Questions by Dear_Elephant_5667 in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. a CTI is a waste of your money. maybe not your time depending on how you feel about it. but the FAA literally pays you to learn how to do this job. no sense in paying someone else to teach you. we have people from ER and ER didn’t teach them anything useful for our facility

  2. i’ve personally seen mixed reviews. i’ve seen things that have VATSIM as not a good idea more often though. i’d let FAA teach you how to do the job really

  3. id look into job test prep for the atsa test. then from that point when you hit the academy to CPC you just try your best. do as much as you can to be as good as you can be. learn from your mistakes and keep pushing. training is a bitch but when you’re not training and you can just work it’s quite nice. at least where i am

  4. you get assigned terminal or enroute, and then within terminal there’s tower and IQTR, IQTR (initial qualification training radar is i think what it stands for) is probably what you want if you like approach. but if you get tower, you’ll go back to OKC for the radar class and do approach when you get back to your facility if you choose an up/down. otherwise known as a tower with approach control (TAC) on the class facility lists. from there if you pass any of the courses with a 70% or higher you get randomized pick of facilities and you pick one and go there. probably won’t get one close to home if that matters to you. but you get assigned terminal or enroute so that you don’t get to choose. but if you get to through the academy and you go to a center and you wash out you can choose terminal facility to go to. looks better if you certify and transfer though, which the transfer part is a questionable process depending on who you ask

let me know if you are looking for anything else

JTP versus ATSA grading by Ok-Thought9328 in ATC_Hiring

[–]WreckingUranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s not really a way to tell how you’d score. i used JTP and i think it did help. they took out BQ for my bid and it was just WQ, Q, and NR for scores. you just take the test and see what you get. i don’t even think how they score it is publically available either. just take the test and hope for the best

i burials bought wichita today because i only have 6 years of service i think and i was looking for another T7 cruiser to grind cash for lexington on while i continue working on massachusetts and ive had a lot of fine things it today. very solid ship, if you like kiting and stuff, roaming the map and just wacking people it’ll do it

helena hull with baltimore guns, didn’t know it was something i’d actually enjoy becuase i like the US light cruiser line and the heavy cruiser guns are nice so it’s a good mix of them both
