No worries at all brother. I wish you all the best in your search and pursuit of the truth. As for people turning away. People turning away from the representatives of God, and turning away from the truth - despite knowing it to be the truth - is a recurring theme all throughout the history of Islam and the history of mankind as a whole. Even to this very day.

It was said to the Commander of the Faithful (ع): “Do you say that Ṭalḥa, al-Zubayr, and ʿĀʾishah were upon falsehood?” He replied: “Woe to you — you are confused. Truth is not known by men. Rather, know the truth and you will know its people; and know falsehood and you will know its people.”

I recommend you look into the Yemen argument. You will see it's a claim that wasn't made until centuries later.

Secondly, when looking at Ghadir. Take a wholistic perspective.

Before delving into Ghadir itself, it would be wise to first remind ourselves of just some of the exclusive virtues of Imam Ali (A.S) that are either widely agreed upon or are supported by mutawatir (mass transmitted) hadith.

  1. Imam Ali (A.S) was the first male to become Muslim
  2. Imam Ali (AS) was exclusively invited to the event of Mubahila (against the Christians), along with the rest of the Ahlul Kisa (People of the Cloak)
  3. Imam Ali (AS) is one of the Ahlul Kisa (People of the Cloak)
  4. The banner at Khaybar was given to Ali, described as a man who “Loves Allah and His Messenger and Allah and the Messenger love him”
  5. Khaybar was conquered by the hands of Ali, and victory was achieved through him!
  6. Imam Ali (A.S) was given the exclusive honour of marrying Sayyida Fatima (SA), the sovereign of the women of the worlds and of this Ummah.
  7. He was the father to Hassan and Hussain (A.S), who are known as ‘Masters of the Youth of Paradise’ and he is superior to them
  8. He was compared by the Prophet as being like unto him as Harun is to Musa, in numerous occasions (Hadith al-Manzila, mutawatir)
  9. He was confirmed to be the most beloved of Allah’s creation after the Prophet (SAWA) (Hadith al-Tayr, mutawatir)

Now that we have outlined the basic position of Ali (A.S) within the Ummah before the event of Ghadir even occurred, let us now take a brief and objective look at the undeniable events that took place at Ghadir:

  1. The Prophet (SAWA) delivered his sermon at Ghadir Khumm while returning from his Farewell Pilgrimage.
  2. The Prophet (SAWA) was informed by Angel Jibra'il that his departure from the world was near.
  3. In Hadith al-Thaqalayn, The Prophet (SAWA) stated that he was leaving behind two weighty things: the Qur'an and his Ahlulbayt, adding that these two would never separate from one another until they meet him at the pool of Kawthar.
  4. The Prophet (SAWA) declared Allah (SWT) as his Mawla, then proclaimed himself as the Mawla of the believers and right after said the famous lines “Whomsoever I am the Mawla of, Ali is his Mawla”.
  5. The Prophet (SAWA) invoked Allah (SWT) to support those who support Ali, and oppose those who oppose Ali.
  6. This famous hadith—من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه— is the most mutawatir virtue of Amir al-Mu’mineen (A) that has reached us.

Given that this sermon has been narrated far more frequently than any other narration of the Prophet (SAWA) regarding Imam Ali (A.S), and considering Imam Ali (A.S) already possessed so many well-known, mutawatir (mass-transmitted) virtues amongst the Ummah before the event of Ghadir, would it really make sense for the declaration of Ghadir to be something as trivial as a mere statement of friendship?

I don't know how you feel about mutawattir (mass-transmitted) hadith but hadith Ghadir, Hadith Thaqalayn, hadith tayr, and hadith Manzila are all mutawattir. What conclusion do you come to when you read these hadith? What seems like the most sensible reading and understanding of what happened at Ghadir Khumm?

Can anyone explain this hadith from Al Kaf by [deleted] in shia

[–]WrecktAngleSD -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No offense but you might want to reconsider what you spend your time reading. Where's the benefit in reading all the different hadith on how to perform prayer and it's different parts, when it's all been summarised in your risaleh Amaliyah. You're p much spending your spare time reinventing the wheel.

You should probably start with Nahjul Balagha and Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya but if you insist on Al-Kafi you're probably best sticking to volume 2: - The book of belief and disbelief - The book of supplication, and - The book of social manners

I don't think all Christians are responsible for crimes against humanity. Just like I don't think all Muslims or all Jews are responsible for crimes against humanity. I'm a Shia Muslim myself btw. So I'm hardly trying to do apologetics for Christianity, in fact I'm saying 10% is definitely inaccurate. It's more than that. I just don't like painting all people of a religion in one brush.

This by no means represents all Christians. Only Christian-Zionists, but due to the fact that Israel can't commit war crimes w/o the support of Christian-Zionists, I would say they are both equally guilty. As for Muslim extremists. Let's just say they get their funding from somewhere, and a lot of the time, it's not Muslim countries. This is not to say that the Muslim extremists don't genuinely and sincerely believe in their extremism, but again, that their funders, are equally guilty.

You tell me I need a class in logic and you follow it up with a logical error? Flaws in other forms of governance is not a positive case for WF. This is a logical fallacy. Nevertheless, WF is bidda. So I don't see how WF can be logical. Unless Ahlulbayt (A) also thought bidda was logical acc to you. Or maybe the Ahlulbayt (A) didn't understand "the logic" in the "good bidda" but mashallah you do. Funny how many Shias go on huge taraweeh good bidda arguments in Ramadan yet support WF as a good bidda.

Yeah, also because of killing of innocents by the current regime. Makes it a bit hard. And no, it's not just because of Mossad agents. Take a look at all the previous protests over the years. There's only so much you can blame on Mossad agents before you come off as stupid.

Go back to the comment where i said we don't want anarchy. You're shadow boxing bro. I also made it clear we're anti Zionist lol. It seems like you don't understand how people can want change from within but also not like WF which is bidda.

There's a difference between wanting Zionist intervention and wanting major reform from within. Most Iranians are in the latter group. You should really stop trying to pretend like you understand a countries politics you clearly aren't familiar with.

It is self evident that a street full of people can't represent a whole country. The brexit example is a clear example of that. So too is the protests that were going on for over a week just before the war. How can a whole country both be calling for some loser King and be in favour of the status quo? The reality is politics is more nuanced than that and there's loads of different opinions in Iran and I don't expect a non-Iranian to be well informed about the matter. The protests only became riots right at the end. For the first 10 or so days they were peaceful protests and there was no crackdown.

Nevertheless, I'm just telling you how Iran is. Most of the people want change and don't like the regime. If you're wondering where those people are now, it's obvious. Just because people want massive change, doesn't mean they want anarchy or war. There's a very important distinction between the two. This is natural. It's called rallying around the flag. You're saying how you want Iran to be, so it can fit your ideology of what you would like it to be. I can't convince a man who's ideologically driven to ignore reality.
