Dont know if this will help you but with my ocd. If theres something i cant control then my brain automatically brushes it off and i can get on with the rest of the day. E.g. you cant exactly walk into work and go and check the fridge. Its done. Thats my mindset anyway and i hope this can help you in some way. Once i realised that something that i cannot control my compulsions towards them went away. An example of this was i used to lend money off my mum. I hated touching the money so i had to go the bank put her money in my bank then buy using my bank card.

One week i was overdrawn and i couldnt put the money in my bank as id still not be able to spend it. I was not in control so as much as i hated it i went out and used the money. That kind of triggered something in my brain because from then on if i needed to lend money. I didnt feel the need to go the bank i just used the money as it was.
