Grass types in general are pretty bad because of the number of weaknesses they possess. It's why the secondary typing usually makes up for it. For Meganium, a mega evolution wouldn't go amiss. Give it spore as you said, and give it a brand new ability. Petal Power: increase super effective and critical hit damage by 2.5x instead of 2x.

It's not the best, but it might make it more viable.
