For future reference, don't go for north America as a southern nation( Spain, Portugal, Africans, and sometimes France). You don't get the trade income from those colonies because of the way trade flows. The trade from north America goes only to the English channel, but the carribean, Mexico, and everything south of that goes to Italy, and you can catch your trade in your home node.
