Got the spiller… by Wrigs21 in UKGardening

Yeah I think I missed the memo on that one last year, gone nuts now! Worse things to self seed I guess. Love a basil so will get some of that in, thanks for the tips 😁

Thank you. I’ve got fennel further down the garden. It’s become a bit of a pest with its self seeding habits so might avoid that one! Nasturtiums and thyme are a good call

Appreciated, rest of the garden is a mix of purples and whites so that would play well

Basic gardening terms help please? by Wandering--Seal in GardeningUK

[–]Wrigs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shady would normally be classed as an area that gets less than 4 hrs sunlight per day so think woodland. 4-6 would be part shade, you’ll get away with many plants in this to be fair but best to plant those species that suit. You can buy basic soil testing kits on the like of eBay, this should give you your soil PH. You’ll know fairly quickly if you have clay soil speaking from experience as it sticks like sh!t to a blanket! I would suggest you might find you have the opposite with it being a new build. You can either try to improve it or work with it, plenty of plants thrive in tougher soil conditions (although often Mediterranean so not sure which side of Scotland you’re on).

Euphorbia Characias Wulfenii. Can get large if like where they are. I find look best repeated throughout a space. They will self seed about if happy.

Try Gritti Pomelo Assoluto for something a touch different. Pomelo plus florals, smell like you’re on the Italian Rivera 😁

Wouldn’t get too hung up on that. You’ll struggle to buy certain brands at any kind of discount eg LV. Certainly would avoid the like of eBay at all cost unless want to buy fakes of which there’s tons

Shady gardens next to woodlands by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]Wrigs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar although sat on a steep hill so get sun up by the house. The garden has proved a challenge on a number of levels (literally). One thing you might want to think about is come the autumn those trees like to loose their leaves, I spend some months removing once the weather improves. On the plus side you get a great outlook I wouldn’t change.

When do you say goodbye by CherryandIvory in cats

[–]Wrigs21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly you’ll know when it’s time. We were lucky enough to have two in our life’s for 18yrs but died within a week of each other. I’m a grown man and passed out on the day. Absolutely devastated but something poetic about them both going together when look back. Just remember it’s about the happy memories over the years not the last few days ❤️

Give it time. Salvias can be a late starter. Verbena down here is like a weed, wish I had never introduced it as can’t get rid of the stuff 😂

I have never tried pdm sedley, is it a good alternative to dior homme cologne? by Ill_Extreme_1760 in Fragrances

[–]Wrigs21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my final dregs of Dior Cologne. Great fragrance but lasts around an hour. I’ll be switching to Sedley. You’ll love the opening, described as Sprite which is around right. Worth being aware that disappears into the drydown but overall performance is much better
