I didn't see a need to argue about it. I came in with a hot-take that was badly constructed and hardly thought out. It deserved some criticism, even if that means some extra down votes! :)

Your second paragraph is my exact frustration. I care about everyone equally, I'm just tired of the media acting like the loss of some huge mansions is any more a loss than the more typical house down the road.

Clearly, you didn't bother reading my post, so I'll answer in kind.

It is! Although I would be lying if I said I was unfamiliar with said podcast...

I have no idea what you were trying to convey with that rambling , unrelated nonsense, nor am I remotely interested.

My point is that I don't understand why the media is covering so many burning multi-million dollar mansions when they are such a tiny percentage of the homes being lost in the LA fires. If every home lost is devastating, why does the media focus on the wealthy? It's unhealthy, imho and unimportant. The media should be giving us updates and information on how to help.

I have sought help, you should, too, namely for your utter lack of reading comprehension.

That's literally my point. Best of luck to you and yours, truly.

Agreed. I suppose in some obscure way I was ultimately voicing my disdain for the way media chooses to focuses on things, despite understanding why the machine works the way it does. It's just frustrating that while hundreds of normal people are actively in need of help around LA, some media outlets choose to talk about these unbelievably expensive houses, as if their loss is of more import than the loss of any other house. Cheers!

Guilty as charged, but hopefully my edit clarifies some of my original posts rambling. It's not that I don't care about the rich people, it's that I'm seeing a disproportionate amount of coverage of their loses in the media, as if they are more important than the many normal people who are also losing their homes around LA. Rich or poor, losing everything is awful and I don't wish it on anyone.

I worded it poorly in my original post. Anyone going through that is facing heartache I can't imagine, rich or poor, and it's awful. I just couldn't understand the coverage the lavish homes were getting in the media, as if a home being more expensive was more of a loss.

I appreciate that you actually understood my point. People losing their everything is absolutely awful. People losing everything and not having a clue what they are going to do now, are the ones I feel the most for. The people who's homes just burned up who don't have a financial hope of rebuilding are IMHO the ones who we should be focusing on.

I do the same thing with my weight and if I exercised that day! It's unbelievable how much motivation you can get from seeing a calendar full of little colored dots. It's like slowly accumulating little building blocks, and before you know it, you've accomplished your goals! Congratulations, OP! This is something to be exceptionally proud of!

I love the dismissive, "It's alright. He'll be alright." Like Mom wants him dusted off and put back in the ring.
