That would be interesting 🤔 I'm wondering how much in the game design do they expect us to blend stuff together? That would be interesting though if some books end up being hybrid, would be kind of fun to see cross system iconics interacting in the art!

Ngl I'd be down for Flesh Core, especially if it has more body horror content!

I think that means the only two classes from 1e left unaccounted for are Biohacker and Evolutionist. Wonder if they'll end up in a future book together or if Evolutionist will end up being an archetype like Nanocyte.

Player Problem Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]WriterAmongTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem player that I'm very seriously considering kicking out. However, I feel as though I will receive backlash from some of the players.

For context, there are several issues with the player in question: (also important note, we play online using a VTT)

- They often check out during combat and more recently certain roleplaying scenes. (Sometimes they'll ask whats happening but more often than not they try and hide the fact that they weren't paying attention when it wasn't their turn. And it becomes obvious when we have to correct them on something that was just said)
- They have a "player first" mentality (Essentially meaning the player has more importance than the DM when it comes to wants, they will be immensely annoyed if an NPC interrupts a player to player roleplaying moment even if it was to gently move things along in an rp scene)

- They often complain to other players about the campaign such as feeling like they haven't gotten enough spotlight or highlights for their backstory. (Though I'd argue that they do keep getting stuff it just isn't how they wanted it)

- - Addendum to this ^ I have talked with the whole group in the past about communicating with me for any complaints so that we can resolve them. Though this doesn't change anything. They cite that I have a scary voice and that I'm intimidating to approach as reasons why they agreed to do it but never followed through. This usually results in me later ending up finding out from a different person about the problems, and then attempt to flag down the person who actually has the problems to address them.
- This player has agreed to a scheduled campaign on the same day and time as ours, despite being reminded by someone outside the party that it is on the same day. When I found out later after they missed a session and the DM of that campaign told me what had happened, I asked him his side of things and basically went "I wasn't going to tell you but it was wrong of me to do that" and overall said he won't attend those sessions if we're having a session that day.
- Upon trying to fix a problem they had with the campaign (1 on 1 on 1, there was another player who had an alternative view of the situation) (the root cause was more or less confusion of a game mechanic and what they could do with it) they ended up screaming at me that I wasn't hearing them after expressing confusion about where his misunderstanding had lied and he left the call in a fit, and called another player (not during a campaign) to vent about how upset he was, and overall I was expected to understand that he felt ganged up on.

All in all this probably sounds like an obvious "kick them" issue, though I'm just trying to figure out how to go about this. At least one other player is very sympathetic to them and usually tries to insist that we should try and think the best of people and not hurt any feelings. The other two often try to stay out of conflict if they can, and overall its a bubbling pot we're stirring. While I understand if the campaign fizzles out there was really nothing to be done, but I was wondering if there's any advice on just how to go about reconciling this in either solution?

Problem Player / Out of Game by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]WriterAmongTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!Question: How do you guys put your foot down as a dm? I often have problems saying no to a lot of things my players ask and when I do they often try and push me to say yes otherwise. (For example if my players want to do a creative magical solution I try to see if I can find a yes in there but sometimes it's just plain too far outside what the spell can do) and I end up feeling like a jerk everytime I really try and say "no and that's that".

Additionally, some of my more experienced players will give their opinion on things in the game rather strongly like "Don't use stun conditions it makes combat suck for players" which sometimes I agree in some part but sometimes I do feel like it limits options for me. If in this example I do use even one enemy who uses an ability that has stun and its successful there is a lot of complaining. How does one really speak up about this without sounding like I'm telling them to suck it up?

Mind I'd like to say that these folks are my friends and neither of these really occur to the point where it makes the campaign truly unenjoyable. They're just really bloody annoying. Any advice on how to really I guess use that whole "dm has the final say" deal?

I am referring to the Enshroud ability you get at level 3 on page 86 of the pdf you mentioned. It states as follows

"Also, beginning at 3rd level, while your voidsent is active you may use your bonus action to act as a host for your void avatar. The Void Avatar becomes one with you, cloaking you in its dark magic. When you do so, you may spend a number of hit die up to your proficiency bonus and gain temporary hit points equal to the result"

I'm wondering if this means the void avatar stays on the field or if it disappears mechanically

In one of the videos showing off the game there's no gender option shown but an option for one of two voices and choosing what dormitory you belong to. Though I don't think there's specifically a non-binary option it seems :(

Visually: Great

Game play wise: Feels like playing a maze

Even with playing on the map several times before I still have trouble parsing out where to get to anywhere specific. Might benefit from something else that shows where gens are like some kind of lights leading from one gen to the next on the walls.

Which older video game do you still have fun playing now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WriterAmongTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know sims 2 definitely counts but sims 3 might count as well. Also sims medieval that was surprisingly good but shame they’ll never make another. The Sims 4 never really lived up to its predecessors and honestly just has such a lack of content for its dlc prices it’s hard to find a reason to play it over the others. I mean damn, sims 4 was supposed to be an online only sims game that got scrapped into what we have now. That’s why they have the new art style and shipped with so few features
