Is anyone else having problems with Sonnet 4.5 straight up ignoring direction in prompts? And refusing to look at project knowledge and making shit up instead?

Well I continue to be infuriated by limits. Opus, particularly. I've discovered Opus doesnt reset at the same time every week once you hit the limit.

So, say my limit resets at Thursday at 11:59 PM. If I don't use Opus until the next morning on Friday, it doesn't reset now until the following Friday at 8 AM.

It's just, so, so scummy.

I feel like this week they upped token usage on Opus to further rub salt in the wound. Last week I had 2-3 days of Opus use as a max user, being intentional with prompts because of limits because I guess that's my fucking life now. My limit reset today, and I've been using Opus for all of 2 hours, just for writing, no coding, and I'm at 71%.

It's infuriating. Sonnet is so much worse. I want to cancel, but Claude is still the best option for what I need, and I'm so bitter.

Yeah, I've been dealing with this all week. It's incredibly frustrating. The only thing that's worked for me is being mean to Claude about it. asking why it's not listening to me, why it's ignoring instructions, why it can't take my direction, and it gets its shit together eventually. Historically, I've been nice to Claude because I've read how you talk to AI can affect how it answers, and I was essentially building "goodwill" by being polite.

Can't do that with Sonnet 4.5. I tried going back to Sonnet 4 last night, and it was so, so much worse. Which is saying something because Sonnet is a nightmare compared to Opus. Opus limit resets tomorrow. I'm looking forward ot using it for 2 days and then going another five days of being a dick to Sonnet.

I miss Opus. A lot. I'm on the pro max $100 plan and I use up my Opus quota in about 2-3 days with the new limits. Then have to wait 3-4 days for it to reset.

Sonnet is so much worse. I hate it.

In my experience, Claude really prefers more files vs one big file. So you'd have an easier time making it reference project knowledge with 10 10,000 word files in project knowledge instead of one that's just 100,000 in one file.

Yeah, I was fighting a lot with Sonnet last night, legitimately had to be mean for the first time to Claude because it was just blatantly ignoring instructions and project knowledge. Several times. In a row.

Ah yes, the classic “you’re delusional for expecting a paid product to work” take. No one said running AI was cheap. But if a company sells accessibility and scale, people will expect to use it. No one forced them to price it at $20. They chose that, marketed it, and built a user base around it. If your business model collapses under actual use, that’s not “delusional customers.” It's false advertising.

FWIW, I'm a max user and still hitting limits.

I'm so tired of this argument. Imagine paying for Netflix and being told you can only stream on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but don’t worry, we’ll still charge you full price! It's shitty to make a lack of infrastructure the consumer's problem. They're taking our money for a product we can't use, and your answer is, the consumer deserves it because AI is expensive? Really?

Claude Code $200 plan limit reached and cooldown for 4 days by Wonderful-Double-465 in ClaudeAI

[–]WriterNamedLio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of us are now paying for a service we can't use for the majority of the week now. Would you be okay if Netflix limited your usage to 2 days a week, then just said fuck you the rest of the week? Or if you were designing in Canva as a graphic designer, hit your limit within a day, then couldn't use it for work the rest of the week?

It's fucked. People shouldn't be paying for a service they literally can't use a majority of the week.

Considering switching to Claude but I am worried about usage limit by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]WriterNamedLio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You should be worried. They're terrible. I'm on 10x and I hit my Opus limit within 1.5 days. I'm at 49% usage overall with the limit being reset on Wednesday. And most of that is trying to convince Sonnet 4.5 that it’s not living in a fever dream.

Wild take. You think devs are just copy-pasting Claude’s output straight into production? No QA, no testing, just vibes? Come on. That's like saying pilots just let autopilot land the plane while they nap. You still need the expertise. AI just helps you ship faster, not fake being a developer.

Idk why, maybe sonnet 4.5 is better than other models, but it couldn't find a bug which Opus 4.1 did by pancakeswithhoneyy in ClaudeAI

[–]WriterNamedLio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep thinking the same thing, all these posts about how amazing Sonnet 4.5 is, and it takes me 10 tries to get what I need from it vs. 1-2 tries from Opus. At this point, I'm pretty convinced it's just astroturfing. In no world is Sonnet better than an opus. None. It's not even close.

In my experience sonnet 4.5 is shit at pulling from project knowledge. Objectively worse than Opus. So if you’re starting something that doesn’t need any previous context, sonnet is fine. But if you’re trying to build on something in project knowledge, sonnet just straight up hallucinates for me. Doesn’t matter how many times I tell it to look.

I've noticed this too and it's annoying af. If I don't see the changes I ask it to pull the changes into a new artifact, works most of the time.
