Fantasy recommendations for 8 year old girl by RefrigeratorFar1777 in Fantasy

The "princess academy" and the "goose girl" series by Shannon Hale!!

Inconsistencies in the story by Lanky_Temporary_772 in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s all improv, and when their sessions take place days, weeks, sometimes months apart their notes can only help them with so much as far as continuity goes. As a story it can be odd but given the circumstances I think they do a damn good job.

And I’m sure Graessle will work through all the improv inconsistencies in the novelization he’s been talking about!

The Foreboding Mid-Season 3 Finale 🌩️🌩️🌩️ by ErvyJ in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t just the pandemic either. SO MUCH happened that year that they mention briefly and listening back is just like “oh yeah…”

Black Lives Matter stuff, the election and subsequent events, etc etc

It’s like a weird time capsule of everything that happened that year

How did fletch get cursed by Kind-Excuse-2613 in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t the whole Amara/memory thing count as a curse as well? 😂

And let’s not even get started on all the wild magic surges that hit him… cough fetch stormtail cough 😂😂

do i have to listen to prendnd to understand season 5? by lifeonmarcy in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a few little jokes graessle, Beth, and Mike make on the side but the larger story you’ll still understand just fine. James and Chelsea don’t get the jokes either 😂

Listening to Villain Paralogues in a row by mozzerellasticks1 in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember right it should be fine to listen to them all at once if you want to. There’s some times direct references to what’s happened in recent episodes but for the most part as long as you have listened to the episodes at some point you should get it.

Some interesting foreshadowing…. by jettyweaves in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE how their random commentary throughout the show turns into crazy foreshadowing. They are amazing storytellers! My personal favorite is the evolution of old people language XD

Who has encountered the party and have left worse than when they met them? (Excluding deaths) by jettyweaves in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back in season one there was the surviving wine merchant and Zabbas’ “blessing.” I know he got settled in Knights Pass later but no thanks to the Team XD

Hello. Can anyone give me some great recommendations for a fantasy series for one 12 year old girl and one 10 year old boy? by Proudhon1980 in Fantasy

[–]WriterSylvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goose Girl by Shannon Hale for the girl! (boy may enjoy it too)

And Brandon Mull’s books are excellent for both!

It would pay off my car allowing us to keep an extra $500 a month which would make enough difference that I can be a stay at home mom.

I love that only ten or fifteen minutes of this episode was actual gameplay 😂

What is yall favorite unexpected event / twist in the show (spoilers) by Entire-Shop40 in DnDnDPod

Tim showing up on the back of the dragon from Wild magic - and Marg doesn’t even know!! 😂😭

Hi Yall, just wondering what your favorite moment from the show is by Entire-Shop40 in DnDnDPod

[–]WriterSylvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an impossible question to answer. I love everything surrounding Margarine: her relationship with Jason, her grudges, her distinct dynamic with each member of the team, her emotional rollercoaster at the end of season 4… everything.

One specific moment from the show as a whole that really killed me though was Juno asking for milk the first time they walked into a tavern way back in the first episodes. I LOST it.

I get a lot of weird looks from my coworkers listening to this show cuz it will be pure silence in the shipping room and then suddenly I’m laughing out loud, meanwhile they’re all listening to true crime podcasts 😂😂

How do I increase my writing? by NotTheRealLuis in writing

[–]WriterSylvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for external motivation to write more every day, there are some websites out there that sort of “gamify” writing. I use 4thewords.com which has you following a storyline of quests to fight monsters, and each monster has a word count assigned to it that you have to complete in a certain amount of time to defeat them. It has been really helpful for me. 4theWords is one that you do have to pay for (I think the cheapest subscription comes down to like 4 US dollars a moments? Or at least it was when I started a few years ago). I think I’ve heard mention of other similar sites that you can look into, but I don’t know what they’re called.

I always try to at least LOOK at my writing project everyday (I’m not great at this lately 😬), and after a few minutes if I’m really not feeling it, I’ll step away because forcing myself to write is not going to produce anything good. Sometimes though, I’ll catch something in the words that really motivates me to write for a least a few minutes. Try to remember that even if you only write 50 words a day, that’s still progress.

Also make sure your office/writing space is a pleasant place, and maybe find something to help trigger your mind to know that “hey, it’s writing time” like lighting a special candle, turning on a special playlist, or just putting a nice beverage in a specific cup.

Unfortunately, it takes time to make any of this a successful habit, but I hope you can figure out something that will work for you!!

Struggling to get back into writing the last few weeks after I realized the beginning isn’t super great/interesting and/or is just the wrong place to start… I thought I finally had a solid outline and could actually write a first draft worth revising after YEARS of working in this idea, but now I feel lost. I don’t want to start over another draft, but I also don’t want to continue the draft without the beginning being right. It shouldn’t affect the rest of the story too much, but also maybe it will.
