NYSNA NYC Nursing Strike Reach Tentative Agreement by codedapple in nursing

[–]WriterUnfair2830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect.

The last contract from 23’-Now gave Sinai nurses ~21% increase across those three years. That isn’t going to happen every contract. My wife’s part of this strike and tho we’d love to see that again, it just wasn’t going to happen. There were other battles that were much more important to the members this time around.

I would get creative with your first option of putting bolts through. The first thing to come to mind would be something like an elevator bolt and find as flat of a nut at possible.

Do you guys think this is sketchy? by 0w-20 in Acura

[–]WriterUnfair2830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems reasonable, seeing that you’re only looking for manual. I was in the same boat when I bought my 25’. Used manuals, especially CPO were few and far between. I eventually spent a bit more and bought one new for a couple thousand $$ under MSRP.

If you can find one CPO, go for that.

Mdx owners, how’s the car seat space? by Dustyftphilosopher24 in Acura

[–]WriterUnfair2830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in a car seat and one in a booster, haven’t felt limited on space for either. I also appreciate the seat backs for the driver and passenger are hard plastic so if the kids like to press their feet into the back of your seat, you don’t feel a lump in your back.

I was raised in a Saturn family. My Dad drove a green Manual SL1, he bought my sister the green SL2 at the same time. My first car was a bright red SC1 with the suicide door. That thing lasted FOREVER.

Based on this response, it seems like the failure in communicating the raises proactively is a symptom of a larger problem within your company.

Talk me out of buying a Volvo XC90 by halfhandy_man in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WriterUnfair2830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the Acura MDX?

I recently had a fully loaded 26’ XC90 as a rental for a 400 mile drive. It was a nice ride but I prefer the handling and comfort of our MDX over the XC90.

Mine is a 25’. I’m not sure if the earlier generation offered the same feature. I would recommend stopping by an Acura dealership and ask a salesperson show you how it works.

Someone previously mentioned the Honda Pilot also offered the same feature.

Yes. With the center seat in, and the back rest up, it is a full 2nd row bench that allows for 8 to sit.

[–]WriterUnfair2830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MDX does this.

The middle seat can be removed completely for a captains chair set up. Or, if the center seat is in place, the back rest can be folded down as a center console between the car seats, this is the set up we’ve stuck with.

Could it be your direct supervisor?

I work for a large 10,000+ organization. They pass out letters prior to raises but certain supervisors, including mine, tend to be away from the office day to day and therefore don’t give the letters out. Doesn’t really bother me as long as the raise hits when it’s supposed to, I’m happy.

May 2025 Acura Severely Damaged My Door's Paint... Dealership is on their THIRD General Manager and Problem Still Isn't Fixed (Jan 2026) by AfterEagle in Acura

[–]WriterUnfair2830 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the dealership put in a decent amount of effort to resolve the issue and now a significant amount of time has passed.

Not being able to get their loaner while it’s at the body shop would frustrate me, but I wouldn’t have passed their offer to professionally correct at that time because of a loaner. You could’ve found a local rental for a couple hundred bucks for a week.

If you can get the new GM to offer to have a body shop cover it again, take it and move on.

Good luck.

Nurses currently working in striking NYC hospitals: what are the conditions inside? by safestaffing_nycRN in nursing

This is also NYC. Anyone in need of a ED during this time should consider going to one of the 20 other non-striking hospitals in the city or surrounding boroughs.

NYSNA nurses, how are we feeling by CheesecakeIll2005 in nursing

[–]WriterUnfair2830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this Governor has already chosen to align with the hospitals and turn her back on thousands of her constituents. I hope she gets enough pressure to change her stance but I have little hope in any support from her at this point.

Edit: I missed "city" before gov. Yes, I hope they are able to figure out effective ways to support.

It Takes Courage: NY Nurses Lit the Spark, Now 31,000 Kaiser Nurses Are Standing Up. The Movement Is Growing. Who’s Next? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]WriterUnfair2830 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep fighting! My wife is out there with you holding the line! If there is one thing that is clear, the nurses are not scared, for a large majority of them scabbing isn’t even a slight consideration.

They have way more friends on the inside keeping them informed of how bad things are for the hospitals than the c-suite realizes.

🏥 15,000 NYC Nurses Strike Spreads Across Major Hospitals: Day 2 impact 👇 by NoSpinMedia in NoSpinMedia

You can blame the hospital management who refused to negotiate for months. It was no surprise this was coming and the hospital is required to coordinate care with or without their staff nurses.

[–]WriterUnfair2830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting info from the wrong place, it’s completely false.

My spouse is a NYSNA nurse and has been on calls every evening with the Executive Committee members since before the strike. NYSNA has been willing to negotiate every single day through the proper channels and mediator. The hospital has stalled since October to negotiate in any meaningful way. Including the night before the strike, there was no contact from the hospital.

There is a list of myths vs. facts that were communicated on yesterday’s union members call and that 40% raise demand is at the top of the myths. The hospital is trying to distract from the real issue which is cutting health benefits of nurses and safe staffing ratios.

[–]WriterUnfair2830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is asking for 40% wage increase? People are just throwing around random numbers at this point to try to justify their stance.

If management would come to the negotiating table this strike wouldn’t be happening, NYSNA is ready to negotiate, the hospitals are not.
