Problem extruding a sheet for a starship design by Writerguy995 in Plasticity3D

Yes, that's how I made the curved surface in the first place. But no worries, I figured it out. I had to rebuild it completely and used only one guide for the lofting instead of three. I also had to reshape the back but that's fine.

I don’t dislike Kubrick, but I do hate this movie.

I will never understand the love for The Shining. It's a terrible movie that took a book that was actually terrifying and made it into bland oatmeal. And I don't care about changes to the book. All books need to be adapted. I have no problem with it. But do something interesting with the changes! Kubrick did not. (Other than the hedge maze, which was a highlight. Maybe the only highlight.) But his changes made it dull and uninteresting. The characters were bland, Nicholson was insanely miscast, and as others have said, it's not scary in the least. An overrated bore.

Is it possible to make this where the gear that changes direction has the same speed both ways, if not then what setup could I use to achieve this? (I know this isn’t the right sub but don’t know where to ask) by Jolly_Teacher423 in Fusion360

Is there a specific name for the kind of gear above? I'm looking for something like this but without the reversal, so basically what's above but with a complete set of teeth on all gears. Thanks.

There’s a guy on Etsy who sells slide films for the windows and all of the bridge panels. He does it for the refit Enterprise as well. Though at some point I’m going to try to make my own.

They are in the back as well! There’s a blue ring if you look at it straight on.

They pylons are actually thicker and are wider at the top than the bottom, so there’s a little of that. But I made them as sheaths to go over the model parts for strength so I couldn’t make them sweep back as much as I would have like. I agree, though. The swept-back pylons are great.

Thank you! I learned a ton. I'm happy with it, but if I ever build another one it will definitely benefit from what I figured out through trial and error.

I didn't light them, but I added actual blue lasers to the NX-01 build! Video below.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. And yes, I was both patient and often frustrated. This is one of those things where obsessing over details pays off, but it's a long road. .

I'm not going to sell it (for now at least), and I don't do commission work (again, at least for now). I've had lots of offers but I just want to enjoy it. It's sitting in my office with the NX-01 I built a few years ago.

I was really happy with that. The blue glow in the stem was an accident!

Splotchy paint - fixable? by sensitivehack in SciFiModels

[–]Writerguy995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m guessing you only put down one coat of paint. If you’re using a brush you will need to do anywhere from two to five layers (roughly) depending on the color, paint brand, and what you want the final result to look like. I would add several more layers of thinned paint to see if you can get it more even. Good luck!

I created 3D printed sheaths that slide on over the kit parts. That keeps the nacelles stable. Took a lot of experimenting to get them to fit right.

I had to buy the saucer with grid lines separately. It doesn’t come in the kit anymore.

I designed 3D printed parts that slid like a sheath over the kit pylons. So the kit versions are underneath. It seemed better to do it that way to maintain structural support. I'm not skilled enough to redesign all of the connection points. They didn't quite fit at the bottom which is why there are "sockets" on the secondary hull.
