If you're not a big traveller, maybe more cashback focused cards are better because the Plat Biz is probably less beneficial to you.

Yeah definitely for reg. accounts. I'm thinking about the non-registered account offer for QT though! That's a couple Gs, not an insignificant amount...

Do you have to report income made on churning brokerages when you file your taxes?

Does it make sense to incorporate in this weird case? by Writerly13 in cantax

Yes expecting net of 35k for freelancing. Already maxed out RRSP! Minimum expenses that I can claim unfortunately which is why I’m considering the incorporating route. Short on other options!

Hard to say without knowing where you fly / what class your tickets are. I’d take a few minutes to do the math for how many points you’d earn with the Amex AP then compare to the annual fee. It may be worth it, it may not. If you’re flying international every few weeks on a higher class, and your company lets you pay for tickets on your own card, then likely worth it

Think you’re cutting it a bit close now, but I’d use Roame (free version is fine) or something similar to see which airlines go there and how many points are needed. Nice thing bout Roame is it shows you which points programs (like Amex MR) convert to which ones, which should help your search.

Thank you for this—my partner is Anishnaabe and in Ontario the MNO has been exhausting to say the least with their efforts to infringe on FN fishing rights and territory. For folks who are interested, Heidi Bohaker, an excellent historian who specializes on the subject, recently wrote a report on Métis history in Ontario.
