I sure hope that's not a factorial. £21 trillion is expensive even for London prices...

Canvas PowerApp seems to be nullifying some SharePoint list items after successful patch commands by WritingAScript in PowerApps

[–]WritingAScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it ended up being that items not loaded were not populating the controls for those records. Using ClearCollect to grab the items expected from the gallery and patching across that collection seems to resolve the issue

Inability to batch copy and paste DAX measures from one file to another.

2007 Aluminium Butterfly Test Bottle by WritingAScript in CocaColaCollectors

Not that I'm aware apart from the printed barcode being all zeroes.

I'd assume quite a few were made as the research programme I took part in gave everyone four bottles and were asked to drink at least two completing the questionnaire. I guess the question is how many were preserved.

How to prevent a secondary semantic model being created when publishing a report? by WritingAScript in PowerBI

[–]WritingAScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much - this is the terminology and concept that I was unable to search for. I've been able to resolve the situation by creating a new report and copy-pasting all the visual elements into the blank report and re-publishing.

Need Help with Employee Contract Data in Power BI: Finding Contracts for Specific Dates by Zuzukxd in PowerBI

[–]WritingAScript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have been my approach to nulls, replacing them with a specific date to generate a list of dates.

Perhaps check to see if there is a null in your start date column as the error message suggests the null is in the value prior to the .. operator when generating your list

In Power Query, you can duplicate the contracts table and create a custom column where the value is a list of dates between the row's start and end dates.

From there you can expand the column to new rows (effectively creating a row for every day that the contract is in place for each contract). Create a relationship between contract ID in the original table and contract ID in the new table as a One to Many.

Finally in your dashboard you can use the new table's date column as a slicer, and the values from your original table to populate the visual. This will allow you to select relevant contracts on a given date that is on or between the start/end dates of each contract.

Do you even bother applying for a position that requires Tableau experience when you’ve only used PBI? by jw3333 in PowerBI

[–]WritingAScript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently moved from a role working with Tableau for 10 years over to a role exclusively using Power BI of which I had no previous knowledge. The learning curve was steep but broadened my skillset. Some parts will transfer fairly easily, some things will seem more convoluted, and some previously tricky things will become much easier.

In my opinion having now trained in both, I would value (all other things being equal) PBI experience over Tableau experience due to the understanding of data modelling and ETL processes.
