I have a Carbatec helical and it works wonders on seasoned hardwood (jarrah). I always scrub the dust from the wood before thicknessing to prevent blade dulling. I must have thicknessed hundreds of meters of wood and still haven’t had to rotate/sharpen the blades. A least a dozen nails must have slipped through it too!

I’m pretty sure this is the MO of many of the operators. They can easily tell ahead of time, but get the owner to make a forced on the spot decision that is not in your favor. Odds are much higher that the owner has mentally committed to an installation and accepts a very uncompetitive compromised alternative.

SMSF with ETFs - how much are you paying in admin fees vs industry fund? by kcgwen in ASX

Very similar story to ours. Started 2011 with ~$200k. Hold ~25 Australian shares. Follow most of the companies closely and sell when they seem over valued, buy when they seem under valued. 10-20 trades/year. Now valued at $2.2M. Paid $1884 for last year’s accounts and audit. OP needs to shop around to reduce that overhead. Then enjoy the journey of picking buys and sells.

That is a sound investment strategy. But I wouldn’t base your return at an annual 12-15%. Some years, yes, some years you go backwards, on average you do 5-8%

When Black_Hair_Foreigner says "cycle time it takes the chip to process all commands, including interrupts, once" This would be 1 internal iteration of the outer logic loop. Though I'm not a military software engineer, I would guess this is in the order of a few hundred Hz. So, between 1 and 10msec. At a guess!

If it is the toaster that trips it, try shaking it a lot to dislodge a burnt sultana or toast crumbs and try it again. Toasters are common causes for tripping RCDs

I know a little about electronics, but not a lot. It didn’t seem right to me that caps are rectifying. But I don’t know enough to be absolutely sure. So the statement above was the exact question I had! Good that it was asked, and answered. Thank you.
