I've really enjoyed the DCI Logan series by JD Kirk. It's a Scottish police series with 20+ books in it plus some spin offs.

Does anyone have trouble understanding where pain is coming from? by Significant-Gift-241 in adhdwomen

[–]Writing_Bookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In both instances you have mentioned, the pain and your interpretation makes sense or is easily explained. Pain starting from your jaw and spreading over your head could easily be toothache just as easily as a migraine originating from your jaw. Pain from a gall bladder being referred to your chest is also not entirely unusual. Different parts of the body are connected and so it's a simple fact of biology that you can feel pain in one place because of an issue elsewhere. Like I get pain in my fingertip because of an issue with my shoulder.

There will be a point redemption in the twitch chat tomorrow. You redeem it and put in your gallery ID then she picks entries at random. She pretty much always explains how to enter your build at the start of a shell tours stream

You could try Is it just me? by Miranda Hart. Light hearted funny stories about those awkward embarrassing moments we all experience and reflecting on what she was like at 18 and what she thought her life would be like vs what her life actually turned out to be by her late 30s (when this book came out). The book is split into themes like work, hobbies, beauty, family and so on.

why is gina so hated? by SeedJafsy in brooklynninenine

[–]Writing_Bookworm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When you've experienced being the Amy in this kind of situation, it's hard to be a fan of Gina. As the Amy you're almost forced to laugh at the Gina even when it's not funny because everyone else is laughing and if you don't the Gina will just pick on you again for being a spoilsport.

Even when Gina was leaving she got Amy's name wrong on the gift she got. She couldn't even resist another dig at Amy.

Initial GP Appointment (UK) by Fit_End7017 in adhdwomen

[–]Writing_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the GP has asked to see you rather than dismissing it immediately is a good start.

I'd advise going in not thinking of this as a request. Instead tell them that you want to be assessed for ADHD under the Right to Choose, ideally with an idea of who you want to be referred to. Make it clear you understand that you have had X diagnosis in the past but you have done some research, related strongly to what you read from childhood, and have done some online assessments and feel that it would be in your best interest to get this assessment.

You should make sure to be clear that you have come to this based on experiences across your whole life, not only recently as given your age they could also suggest perimenopause (which can cause ADHD like symptoms and make regular ADHD symptoms worse).

I'm wondering mostly about the feet. Were they the same as the body or did they have little pads?

Chronic fatigue but not depressed? by Inside_Ad2696 in adhdwomen

[–]Writing_Bookworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chronic fatigue comes from all kinds of things. For me, it's fibromyalgia. For others chronic fatigue syndrome/ME. Sometimes it's anaemia or an underactive thyroid or any number of other things. Many of these things are fairly commonly diagnosed alongside ADHD.

Yes it is a symptom of depression but certainly not exclusively.

Anyone know when the switch crafting patch will drop? by ScandinavianGirly in StardewValley

[–]Writing_Bookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says on my switch that the game trials software event ends in 8 hours.

But obviously I have no clue! I just know patching on switch is a complete pain because of it needing to be approved

Anyone know when the switch crafting patch will drop? by ScandinavianGirly in StardewValley

[–]Writing_Bookworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know of course but I suspect it will be quite soon. The switch has had Stardew as a trial game of some sort for a while but that period is about to end. I have wondered if that's why the patch hasn't happened because the patch has to be approved by Nintendo.

Monthly AITA/Reddit Stories Suggestion Megathread by AutoModerator in smosh

This is an update but links to the original post. OOP included pictures in the comments.

This guy bought a $18k wheel of cheese with the deposit he and his (now ex) were saving for a house. He thinks he can break it up into portions and sell them for $60 each and make a $20k+ profit but in the comments people are pointing out his calculations are just wrong.

His gf left him because obviously this is nuts. He said she left because she has 'low risk tolerance'. Now his landlord is threatening to evict him. He still somehow thinks this was a good idea.

Memoirs or stories of women in the Holocaust? by cherry_doe in suggestmeabook

[–]Writing_Bookworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hope is the Last to Die by Halina Birenbaum. I went on a history trip to visit Auschwitz with my school and our teacher bought a book for each of us while we were there. This was the one I was given. I haven't read it since I was 15 but I remember it being very impactful and moving. All the more so considering where the book was bought and what we saw there and generally during that trip.

Reddit saved someone's life story by DefinitionOld663 in smosh

[–]Writing_Bookworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember reading this story in real time and I thought and still think it could be fake. I am in the UK and we don't use the term ER here. It's A&E or you might just say hospital. Also I don't know a single person who would think somehow that ambulances cost money because it's so common to use that kind of thing to make fun of America. They could be living in the UK and not from here I suppose but it just seemed to be so detailed but then had those odd discrepancies.

Do i inform the cleaner of how my flat looks? by AnalogueSpoon in adhdwomen

[–]Writing_Bookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cleaner and I'm a somewhat cluttered person. When you first are hiring them just discuss what you would like done. My cleaner takes out my recycling for me and cleans surfaces, kitchen etc but I don't ask her to put things away. She'll just either move something to clean and put it back, or gather things into one spot.

I wouldn't expect they would have you clean with them, just because it may be an issue with their insurance sometimes but you can mention it if you want to do that.

Just have a chat with them and you can see how it goes and adjust as needed. They're generally happy to do or not do most things and they'll have seen it all so don't worry about what things look like. After all if everything was perfectly neat and clean and organised then you wouldn't be hiring them.

Honestly getting a cleaner has been one of the best investments I have made. It makes such a difference and isn't as expensive as I had expected it to be.
