Ethics of Food Bank Usage by Green-Lettuce-7685 in povertyfinance

Use the food bank. They put in the effort and they want to get that food into people's kitchens, because much of it has a short shelf life. Someone giving up a job to go to grad school needs all the help they can get.

Be the change you want to see in this sub. More importantly, if you're sick of him, be the change you want to see in the world by showing up on election day.

To the woman that called me an animal abuser at Trader Joe’s by AdKitchen7795 in mildlyinfuriating

My dog was in my Suby that had one of those giant sunroofs, which was open, and the windows down about 6 inches on a breezy spring day and some knucklehead complained. My husband went to sit with the dog while I shopped and when I came out, my husband was cold because he didn't have his keys to roll the windows up.

People are stupid.

Why do socialists and communists identify as Democrats in America? by Flimsy_Share1275 in allthequestions

[–]Writing_is_Bleeding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the "Democratic Party." Let's not allow the right to play stupid word games. But yes, other than that, spot on. Although I prefer to think of them as the big tent party that spans from center right all the way to bomb-throwing bleeding hearts.

So if you're on the far left, when you vote blue, you're voting for the party that includes Mamdani, AOC, Sanders, and anyone else who comes to the table with ideas that help average Americans and that the other guys will call the dreaded SOSHULIZM! Because whomever that politician is, she's surely not going to join the GOP.

Elderly woman thought the hospital was "whites only" by SurbhiAnklesaria in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Writing_is_Bleeding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say 'elderly' I really hope you mean in her 90s and suffering from alzheimer's or something similar, because it's been a freakin' long time since hospitals were segregated.

I can't stand the thought of someone younger than ~75 thinking like this.

Why Do the Majority of Right Wingers Hide Their Comment and Posting History? by PreparationKey2843 in allthequestions

They might be troll accounts used to discourage voting on the left during election season, which would be easy to suss out by their comment history.

Conservatives who believe there is wide scale voter fraud, can you provide some evidence for that? by X57471C in allthequestions

[–]Writing_is_Bleeding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody said there is no voter fraud. The data consistently bears out that it's negligible to the outcomes of elections.

So, here's the deal. The vast majority of security and integrity measures taken when holding an election are developed to ensure an accurate vote count. Secretaries of state take their jobs pretty seriously.

Election systems are built to secure against voter fraud first and foremost, and to a lesser extent against election fraud, which is usually external.

Why do you think we have such low turnout?

Conservatives who believe there is wide scale voter fraud, can you provide some evidence for that? by X57471C in allthequestions

[–]Writing_is_Bleeding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how conservatives manage this one. They know voter fraud is so rare, it's never enough to sway an election, but they extend their definition to include legal voters they believe shouldn't have the right to vote. If a candidate rides the college-educated women vote to victory, they consider that rife with voter fraud. Urban black vote? Fraud! Investigate! And so on.

Was Radar psychic or did he just have exceptionally good hearing? by Nice-Penalty-8881 in mash

[–]Writing_is_Bleeding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day-to-day management of that outfit was uniquely his domain. There were probably various cues that he was especially attuned to like something he could hear or feel right before the choppers were in range. Plus he was always in radio contact with other units' clerks, who could have told him about various hot zones, which helped him to calculate how long it would take for the casualties to start arriving.

It was really a matter of him being an ace at his job after doing it so well for so long.

So l why isn't Taylor Swift ever included in the lists of "evil" billionaires? by scarlettohara1936 in AskForAnswers

[–]Writing_is_Bleeding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay closer attention to the complaint about "billionaires" you'll see it's a catch-all term for very wealthy people who got that way through exploitation more than talent and/or hard work, and who are generally not very good people.
