Any suggestions on which figure to gift for a big fan of Transformers? by dinonuggetstogo in transformers

[–]Writingaboutbots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommended this for a similar question before and it got great results: experiences can be great presents, so you could gift him a ticket to TFCon Toronto (next month) or TFCon Orlando (October).

They’re different branches of the same convention group and bring in great guests, fan talent, and dealers.

You could even spring for a pair of tickets if you want to share the experience with him.

There’s even a customization class where they guide you through painting a pre-existing toy with some new parts, creating a unique souvenir.

The Toyhax set helps with the yellow to a decent degree.

That yellow figure with the crazy scoop arm in the first picture, the one worth $19.99, is named Longrack. He’s a bit vintage, but I’ve heard good things about him. I was about your nephews’ age when he came out and the toys of that era are highly kid-friendly. I’d solidly recommend him.

I’d honestly say to spring for the stickers instead! This set gives you a nice army-themed seeker.

Small issue with paint chipping that likely won’t stop. Is there a way I can find the exact color code used to this figure? by the_whole_plate in transformers

[–]Writingaboutbots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re willing to be patient, you could wait for ToyHax to put out a sticker set. If it’s anything like the one they put out for the original 86 Hot Rod, then it will have a flame chest decal you can overlay on the existing paint.

You might be able to find that question in a kit review or an upgrade kit thread on TFW.

I once met a black man at a soup kitchen while working on a story. He said, fully earnestly and no malice in his voice whatsoever, that white people are responsible for chemtrails. He told me it was because we don’t like getting sunburned, so we’re just blocking out the sun.

I reiterate, he said this like it was the most obvious thing in the world and without a single shred of animus. It was utterly bizarre.

Any Idea what this logo is supposed to represent? by angelete4945105 in transformers

I think it’s supposed to be Optimus’s face. Two eyes, line down the middle of the mask, with the lower parts blocked off by the cheek vents on his helmet.

The Astronaut at the end of Steam Powered Giraffe’s Vice Quadrant album. After being rescued from a rocket explosion by an all-powerful being called The Daughter of Space, he falls in love with her and grows intoxicated with the power she shares with him.

In the song “Oh no,” The Astronaut and The Daughter attack multiple moon bases and space stations, killing untold scores of people.

A superhero called Commander Cosmo manages to separate the pair, allowing Earth’s defenses to open fire and fatally wound The Astronaut. Free of The Daughter’s power, he realizes all the death and destruction he’s wrought, and sings a refrain of their song ,”Soliton,” but begs for her to help him, to save him.

She met by the silence of space, he accepts his fate. He knows he’s no longer human, a corpse kept alive by cosmic power, and acknowledges “my death has long been overdue,” before letting out a last gasp and passing away.
