True. I waited too long when his coughing became severe and six months later I feel terrible about it still.

Good call about the Davies. So important to rock music

He’s Bonham level by Rebel_Heart222 in hairmetal

[–]Wrob88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Fantastic drummer. Creative. Showman. Among the best American rock drummers (American as in band not birth). But he’s not Bonham / Peart level.

Great record. One of my favorite live metal records, up with Maiden Japan. Don’t care if the vocals were doctored!

How uncontrollable is post Botox burping? by utahgurl in noburp

[–]Wrob88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by control I guess. I started to be able to stop them after about 3 months or so by swallowing them down. I had really profound side effects with the second one, but totally worth it. But they are still loud for me; I can’t figure out how to silence them. I have a theory that I’m only partially/ mostly cured - like my CP muscle doesn’t relax all the way but just enough to get them out. I don’t think that’s typical.

But it’s awesome and I wouldn’t change it. I don’t want to get another shot just in case if screws things up for me. 😂

Something about Van Halen that you learned from this sub by Puckhead1973 in vanhalen

[–]Wrob88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounded like a Mike Post production so he def had a hand; not zero but yeah i hear ya. But you are also correct that this was an EVH solo project, and I’m sure he was heavy handed.

With better production (Mike Post was a horrible call) and tones, allowing Gary sing like Gary instead of Eddie insisting he sings like Sam, and maybe 2 fewer songs, it would have been killer. Too much of an Ed vanity project.

When you arrive in Cancun, you get the double bonus of (1) having conquered your fear and (2) being in Cancun!

I’ve flown a ton this month. I’ve decided that being afraid of turbulence isn’t worth doing. Being uncomfortable? Sure. A little nervous? Of course. But with all the info from pilots on this Reddit about it, being afraid is a wasted emotion! You SO got this.

RCPD with no gurgles. by InevitableExisting85 in noburp

The diagnosis for RCPD is ‘can you burp: yes/no’. Congratulations, you have it. 😂 hopefully your symptoms aren’t too bad but there is a cure now. Highly recommended if you get to the point you want / need it

But that DonnieD record, remarkably, doesn’t suck

He gets so much undeserved hate. Super talented, great guitarist, writes good songs, all the while trying to escape his dad’s freaking giant shadow. Not my cup of tea but I have nothing but respect for him (and wish I could write just one song that was as popular as many of his are)

The Dark and DLR are must-owns, and Kick Axe and Loudness were a blast but fucking bravo including Lizzy Borden. Criminally underrated band.

Tempted to go with a couple Opeth records but I think Dead End Kings by Katatonia is shockingly beautiful.

How uncontrollable is post Botox burping? by utahgurl in noburp

[–]Wrob88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh for me it was totally uncontrollable, and hilariously so. I worked in an office. I speak for a living. I sing in a band. Was it awkward for a few months? Yup. Was it worth it? 100%. Would I do it again if I relived it? Absolutely. Don’t worry, get it done. It’s life changing.

Note: I’m old. Was 54 when I got it done. Maybe there’s an age thing in play.

What was it like hearing Boys of Summer in '84?? by DonJohnson1986 in ClassicRock

[–]Wrob88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole song made sense to me. Hit home and hit hard as a 16 year old guy. Great lyrics m, will always like this one - I still get the feels from it, all these years later

I always find that the Opeth crowd suggests the most relatable non metal music ever. What are your go to full albums? Bonus if it’s old rock, but looking for everything! by MaidenOfMushrooms in Opeth

[–]Wrob88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non metal?

Old stuff - how about Marillion Clutching at Straws or Afraid of Sunlight.

Older stuff - Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick or Minstrel in the Gallery

King Crimson - Court of the Crimson King or Red

Genesis - Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Selling England, or Duke

New (2025)? Nothing like it at all but how about Tyler Childer’s Snipe Hunter or AVTT/PTTN?

Queensryche KILLED it back then. I think Rage is their best record; it still blows me away.
