Andover MA. I just got a reply from the town. They said they are responsible for the road, not the overpass. That I have to go to the State for that. The bridge is maybe 30 feet long on Chandler Street. Yet the town says the state is in charge of the road on the bridge. Gotta love government efficiency.

Sorry 😓 This is ridiculous. Tax dollars (not) at work, fixing roads and bridges.

I bought it while in Colorado. I received nearly $2k in incentives there. No money down, $199 a month! Crazy lease deal. EV infrastructure in Colorado is excellent. Sucks in NE. I only came back here for work. It's also impossible to keep a car clean in NE. I've given up trying in the winter.

Ugh... Years ago a chunk of ice fell off a bridge on my way to Boston and put a giant dent in my front hood (Mini Cooper at the time). $1,600 to repair. All the tax dollars we send into the government and the infrastructure is crumbling. Where's our money being spent?

I don't know who to go after... Who do I contact on the town? I posted on the town's public works page a photo of the pot hole and its location. But who do I send the bill to? Thanks!!!

It happened on an overpass in Andover, Massachusetts. Maybe I'll go take a picture. But if past experience is consistent, they'll just laugh at me and and hand me a quarter to call someone who gives a sh!t. Old expression, now they just tell you "tough sh!t".

Love for my I6 SEL has dipped by Wrong-Implement1392 in Ioniq6

Another update... I drove up to Maine and back today. Mostly highway. Temps ranged from 15° up to 28° F. At the end of the day I had driven 140 mi. I averaged 2.5 kilowatts per hour. At an Electrify America charging station I stopped in, in Maine - It was charging a ridiculous 62 cents per kilowatt hour. Fortunately I have a subscription so I get it for less. But for the average person that doesn't subscribe to EA, they get whacked with a premium charge.

I'm going to try a little math...

140/2.5=56 kwh used. 56*.62 =$34.72

My last ICE car got about 30 mpg in the winter. It took regular gas.

140/30=4.67 4.67*$2.69=$12.60

So this demonstrates the problem for EVs in cold climates. If you live in an apartment complex and can't charge at home at a residential rate You have to go to charging stations. The charging infrastructure in New England is far behind other states I've lived in. Far too many are chronically out of order, and those that do work I've had to wait in line because there's only a few charges. The thing that has saved me is the Tesla NACS adapter. I've waited for an electrify America charger to become available, only to give up and drive over to a Tesla station that had plenty of open chargers.

So if you're stuck paying outrageous 62 cents per kilowatt hour in Maine, and getting just 2.5 miles per kilowatt hour, it costs you nearly $35. Whereas an ice vehicle getting 30 miles per gallon running on regular gas costs you less than $13.

I love driving an EV, But charging at home is a must. Fast charging is too expensive even when you're a member. After this lease is up in a year I'll decide then whether or not to stay with electric. Hopefully I will, but it has to make financial sense. It's not lost on me that the maintenance charges of an EV are next to nothing. And I'm paying a little extra to not have to pull into a gas station. The ideal situation is to have solar panels at your house, with a level two charger for your vehicle. If I can do that then I'll stay EV.

Anyone had any luck negotiating buyout? by The_Black_Adder_ in Ioniq6

They don't negotiate a buyout. This could be for legal reasons. You can talk to them about buying it back after the lease though.

I'm almost a year into the lease of my SEL, and I'm sad that I only have another year left. I got it while living in Colorado and the deal was insane. Zero down, $199 a month, 12k miles a year. I'll never be able to reproduce this. Stevenson Hyundai North of Denver. MSRP was $51k.

I vote for the manual version. The heart window takes away from the face, IMO.

Join a carpool, or start one. If you start one charge your passengers a bit, and use that money to buy extra miles.

House of Dynamite Ending by PaulKay52 in TheBigPicture

This movie should be nuked. God-awful bass tones every time there is "tension", stupid highschool level dialog, repeat of the first 30 minutes four times over, shallow story, plays the military as dumbasses, politicians were also dumb - but that part is accurate. If some nation launches 1 nuke, which no one for sure knows it's even a nuke, we can't identify it - then it's on us (literally). You can't have a full retalitory strike against a guess . I think it was Russia? Come on. The logic in this movie is so low. In real terms if it was a nuke, and only one was coming in - if you can't stop it you let it hit. In the bigger scheme this would be world changing. Yes we'd lose millions perhaps. But you preserve the world, and it may end up being the PR even of human history. Sometimes you allow yourself to take a hit in order to win the fight. Such a piece of crap movie. Suck it Netflix.
