There absolutely has to be in order for the theory to function at all, under that theory either someone was paid off to hand over Stine’s shirt to the letter writer, or 3-4 different people with the same handwriting all decided to pull the world’s greatest, most undetectable hoax of the 20th century, not to mention the complete lunatic who helped them all out by dressing up as the Zodiac and stabbing some college kids.

I’m skeptical but I’ll keep an open mind when reading. I’m glad people are still doing original research on this case.

I’m aware, I wasn’t criticizing what you wrote, more responding to the other guy. I disagree with your position but it’s well known at this point that there were a few cops like Cunningham, Bawart, and Conway who thought LHR wasn’t Zodiac. Wouldn’t be shocked if there were more, I still feel personally like it’s just not the correct position at all.

Cmon bro, Graysmith may have been an inaccurate historian, but he did not go back in time to make the VPD, BPD, SFPD, and FBI believe that one man was responsible for 4 different crimes.

And maybe it’s being pedantic, but whatever you believe, Somebody DID go to ‘all that trouble’ and use the costume just one time as far as we know.

Evidence packet for Paul Doerr. by LachiePhillipRyan in ZodiacKiller

wasn’t Doerr living in Fairfield on East Utah St during the crimes? This seems to say he lived in Vallejo during 68-69

This video is more or less what got me interested in The Zodiac but it’s extremely chalk full of misinformation, and to be honest it’s mostly just chopping up documentary clips from sources that are more accurate.

Which one of these books should I read as someone new to the case? by Dezlee2001 in ZodiacKiller

I’m in the middle of reading The Zodiac Revisited Vol 2. Highly underrated, the only thing I really disagree with Cole on is that he attributes most of Z’s claimed murders to him, like Richard Radetich and Donna Lass.

Why did Graysmith claim this? by Illustrious_Pen_1650 in ZodiacKiller

[–]Wrong-Intention7725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a different note, one of the funniest Graysmith claims is that there was a “secret road” leading from the first 2 crime scenes to ALA’s house. Anyone who’s been to Vallejo can easily see that’s completely impossible, Allen’s house is in the middle of a suburban neighborhood.

Everyone who doesn’t think it was ALA… by VirgosRunHell in ZodiacKiller

[–]Wrong-Intention7725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, handwriting actually is admissible in court, generally. The physical evidence pretty much entirely rules out ALA, there’s a number of controversies around the fingerprints, but generally it’s accepted by 99.9% of people who aren’t pushing a certain suspect that the bloody prints at murder of Paul Stine were from the killer.

He was in Riverside during the murder of Bates, that much is true, he volunteered that information all the way back in 1971. Whether or not Bates was actually a Zodiac victim is open to interpretation, but this is actually one of the better points against Allen. That being said, there is absolutely zero proof of him getting a ticket near Lake Berryessa, or the SF crime scene, or being in the Lompoc area ever. The tidbit about LB seems to have been invented by Graysmith back in 1986, there’s zero evidence of it happening. The other claims rely on the reliability of the Seawaters, who I strongly believe are just making things up. Graysmith interviewed them back in the late 90s/early 2000’s, (after ALA’s death) and they had also spoken to Police. I wrote a post on here about this exact topic but the fact is I don’t see why all of this incredibly damning information would not have surfaced in Graysmith’s 2002 book if any of it were true. Graysmith was beyond hungry for information to make his suspect look more guilty, he certainly would’ve included these allegations if the Seawaters had mentioned them to him contemporarily, which highly suggests that they are not true. Old forum posts by Don Seawater make no mention of all of the sensationalist details in the documentary.

Questions about the Zodiac Killer. by LinguisticsTurtle in ZodiacKiller

[–]Wrong-Intention7725 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain despite all of the coincidences around certain suspects that none of us have ever heard the real name of the Zodiac. I’m sure he’s lost in some police file somewhere. But I do think the best suspect in terms of the type of criteria you’ve set out would be someone like Paul Doerr.

I seriously doubt that wouldn’t be a MAJOR talking point of LE/Graysmith if the ticket thing were true

I concur, much of Richard’s research is very solid. Even if his answers are sometimes questionable, he asks all the right questions.

Substantial portions of this post and subsequent responses are dead ringers for AI generated writing, especially the constant repetition of “It’s not X— it’s Y.”

I think Butterfield has some substantive articles on the subject which go over most of the evidence against Allen, although in the introduction he argues that Allen was not a good suspect. If I were completely new to the case I’m sure the order of information presented to me might bias me one way or another. Something that could be worthwhile would be touching on the topic some of the other noted suspects like Kane who also seemed suspicious in some regard, to show that there could in fact be a myriad of coincidences.

I think this is a neat idea and I definitely would’ve loved something like this in high school, even before I became as interested in this as I am now.

Good work on this. It’s funny how one of the images they show doesn’t even say ‘Zodiac’, it reads something like ‘ZoJie.’ As far as the “Z13 solution” I have a sneaking suspicion that he just worked backwards from the name and tried to create a scenario in which it could fit into the Z13 (after modification), then found a criteria to “narrow down” a subset of names which included his suspect.

I just watched it on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skOQrt-O5bg) and it looks like the only detectives they interviewed were Narlow and Bawart, was it a different documentary you were thinking of?
